"What don't you understand?"

He paused for a moment.

"About this.... this choice of mine," he said.

"I thought I could do this without a second thought. That I could leave this world and choose to live in another.
But now that I know what having a 'life' and 'empathy' means, I somehow find myself feeling... feeling..."

The boy trailed off uncertainly, not knowing how to choose the right word.

"... Scared?" the raven suggested.

He looked up and nodded.

"Yes. Scared."

"That's a normal human feeling, being scared."

The boy nodded again.

"You're scared of dying..." the raven mused.

"Yet at the same time you're also scared of leaving this world to become immortal in another one."

"Yes. Something like that."

The bird laughed.




"What a confusing paradox."
