"Make sure to contact us when you arrive, okay?" Rie reminded, squeezing Leo into a tight hug.

"We'll be waiting for you. Take care in America!"

Leo laughed as they pulled away.

"Alright, mom. I will," he said cheekily.

Rie smiled at him in return.

They were at the airport right now.

Today was the day Leo was going back.

Once they exchanged their farewells,
he turned to Ao next.

"Well... I guess I'll see you in another few months then."

Ao nodded. "... Yeah."

There was a look of sadness in Leo's eyes.

He tried a smile.

"I... had a lot of fun here," he said softly. "I'll really miss you both..."

He looked away uneasily.

Then, he made a weak laugh.

"What am I saying? I'm still coming back.
I've gotta finish the term first and apologize to mom—"

His words were abruptly cut off as an announcement echoed over the intercom.

It was for a plane flight.
They were calling for the passengers.

"That one... that's yours, isn't it?" Rie spoke up.

Leo looked like he just realized that.

He eyes widened slightly.

Slowly, he scratched the back of his head.

"Ah.... Yeah. It is."

・・・ xiv・・・

No one moved. No one said a word.

After a second,
it was Ao who finally broke the silence.

"... You need to go now. You might miss your flight," he said.

Leo blinked.

He opened his mouth to say something, but stopped himself at the last moment.

He nodded.

"Right... I guess I'll be going then."

He reached for the handle of his suitcase.

However, Leo didn't move.

Instead, he stared at Ao and Rie in front of him.

Then, he grinned widely.
