She was there when he arrived in the classroom.

Once again, with her circle of friends.
Once again, laughing and grinning.

She hadn't noticed him.

Her back was turned.


He paused at the doorway and looked down at the umbrella in his hand.

For a moment, he didn't move.

A few of his classmates noticed him standing there but averted their eyes.

He breathed in. He thought about what he was about to do.

Then, the bell suddenly rang and he lost his chance.

Slightly shaking his head,
he moved at towards his usual seat.

When he passed her, she was still looking the other way.

He sat down and placed the umbrella at his side.
Then, he turned towards the window, squinting.

Then, he breathed out.

The sun was too bright.

It always was.
