“Ma’am, Miss. Lauren is here to see you.” reported the driver.

Seeing the envelope clutched in her hand, she waved her hand at her driver telling him to leave and when her gaze focused on Lauren, she asked innocently.

“Why do you want to see me?”

Lauren huffed and turned the envelope unto the table as bundles of cash fell out. Seeing the money falling on the table, Patience let out a satisfied grin that said ‘I’ve won’ then raises her gaze at her.

“And what about this…?” she asked still wearing an innocent look.

“How could you?” Lauren scowled at her defiantly. “Why’d you have to resort to setting me up for a crime I didn’t commit? Do you want me away from you son that badly?”

“Understand that it’s something I had to do. He wouldn’t see reason to break up with a trash like you so I thought to myself; why don’t I spice things up a little; do something that will kick you out of his life for good.” Patience spoke casually and gave a chuckle while Lauren stared on.

Then suddenly the laughter on her lips disappeared and she glared at her with an irritated look.

“I’ve never liked you. I don’t even know why I had to put up with you for this long. But let’s face it. With your poor background and upbringing do you think you are qualified to stand beside someone as elegant and high class as my son? The answer is no. So, you will never have him. Not now, not ever. Vivian is the one for him and that’s final.” She said firmly.

“Hahahaha!” Lauren’s body shook with laughter after a brief moment of silence.

Patience gawked at her as she had no idea why she was laughing. “What’s so funny?” she asked.

Lauren tossed her hair behind her back. “Wow! I’m not surprised at all.”

She began as her expression gradually changed, becoming straight-faced and her tone, cold. “You getting all clingy and protective of your son, like he’s the only man in the world; makes me wonder how your husband managed to live with a woman you.”

“What?!”

“You know what, you can have him. If I knew I’d be dealing with a family as messed up as yours, I wouldn’t have agreed to date your son even if it would cost me my sanity.”

“What did you say?”

“You heard me loud and clear. Good day.” Lauren said then turned and started towards the door.

Patience’s eyes burned with hatred, watching her leave the restaurant. Even though she was happy that her plan to separate them worked, she was angry that Lauren had the guts to talk back at her and say things that would leave her feeling angry.

But that wasn’t the end she was going to make sure they never have anything to do with each other.

On the last day of the contract implementation, many days later, walking into Damien’s office, Lauren reached out dropping a letter onto his desk. She also dropped a letter for Helen before finally leaving the company.

Hours later…

Damien strode into the office with George following behind, with a pile of files in hand as he came to stand before his desk. He took off his suit jacket putting it on the hanger beside the table and plopped down on his seat.

“So, what do I have today?” he asked with his hands massaging his temples.

For some reason, he had a gloomy look on his face. It was probably because of indulging himself in too much work or maybe it had something to do with Lauren.
