Throughout the whole game, it was as if he had something on his mind that was holding him back from his potential. All it took for Mollie was one look at her twin brother's face to know that he had completely lost his focus.

And with Cory falling behind, the game seemed to be dominated by two other players: Riz and Lewis. It was really no surprise that Riz was playing well, as Mollie knew already that he was one of the best players in the whole school. But when it came to her cousin, she was incredibly surprised by just how commanding he was on the pitch. For someone who previously claimed that he didn't like rugby, it seemed as though the sport was second nature to him.

The whistle blew for a break in play and Mollie let out a sigh of relief, hoping it would give Cory a chance to clear his head and readjust his focus. The boy let out a deep huff and began walking back towards his teammates when a few voices in the crowd caught his attention.

"Riz and Lewis are way better than Cory, but the scout is here for him."

"It's just favouritism, ain't it?"

Cory shook his head as if to dispel the comments from his brain, but they only seemed to continue as he walked down the pitch.

"I wonder where Naveed is."

"Probably in Cory's back pocket like always."

Cory's eyes darted to the ground, trying to tune out his thoughts and concentrate on the match. He knew he was blowing it, but he couldn't help it. He felt a huge pressure on his shoulders, not just from those around him but most importantly from himself.

Drawing in a sharp breath, he saw Mr Bell approach him. He felt guilt start to consume him. After all, Mr Bell had done so much to get him this opportunity in the first place and now he was completely screwing it up.

Maybe they were all right. Maybe he was useless at rugby. Maybe Riz and Lewis were way better than him. Maybe this whole thing was just a massive waste of time.
