Metropolitan Police Department, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, Japan

The Metropolitan Police Department, the one and only police agency that protects Japan's capital, has a total of nine bureaus. In the office where Section 5 of the Foreign Affairs Division 2 of the Public Security Bureau, one of these bureaus, is located, there is one desk that has been vacant for a long time.

"Hiraide-senpai... I wonder where he is now."

A man sighed as he looked at the desk. Yoshika Nagamine, a young officer in Section 5, was worried about his senior who had been sent overseas and had not come back to Japan for nearly two months.

"They are completely not deserving of all this. Illegal emigrants are responsible for their own actions, so why not just leave them alone?"

Nagamine muttered his resentment toward the five missing Japanese who had caused Hiraide to be sent out of the country. He missed his senior, the man who accompanied him to gun training.

"Oi, oi, how could you, a policeman, even say that?" An officer who was listening to his soliloquy admonished Nagamine. "It's your duty as a police officer to protect the public, leftist or not. Don't forget the basics."

"Yeah, yeah."

Nagamine nodded reluctantly at his senior's scolding. While Jindo and his team were chasing the missing activists westward through the land of the other world, daily life in Japan was going on as usual. However, some of them are waiting for the return of the missing activists who have been away from Japan for a long time.

Margraviate of Northcairt, Crossnellyard Empire

The High-Mobility Vehicle carrying Jindo's group, more than 15.000 km away from Japan, had crossed a regional border and reached the Margraviate of Northcairt, a region adjacent to the Margraviate of Bonn.

"It's so peaceful..."

Jindo, sitting in the passenger seat, sighed quietly as he looked out the window at the wilderness stretching as far as the eye can see. It was their second day out of Bonn City, and the scenery around them was never going to change. It was then that they saw the city through the windshield. After checking the map to see where they were, Jindo turned to the four people sitting in the back of the vehicle.

"We managed to get there before sunset! I can see Northcairt City."

Hearing his words, Riyoshi leaned forward to catch a glimpse of the city. They had finally reached their second destination.

. . .

Northcairt City

The HMV carrying the group proceeded over the street that runs through the city. The curious eyes of the citizens were focused below them. This region was a land where the Japanese had never set foot, and therefore, unlike the residents of Beginteria and Miket Tirith, the citizens of this city had never seen an automobile. This is, of course, partly because the city is located inland. But there was another decisive reason why the Japanese did not come to this region.

"...Compared to Beginteria, it looks very rural. It looks run-down."

Hiraide muttered his thoughts as he looked at the city of Northcairt, where buildings and people were sparse compared to other regional capitals, and vagrants were hanging out here and there on the streets. Nortchairt, the capital of this region, is located in an arid inland area, so compared to the Miket Knighthood and the Margraviate of Beginteria, which are supported by maritime trade with other continental nations and rich geology, the population is small and the city gave the impression of being quite rural. In addition, compared to the other towns they have stayed in, this town seemed to have a gloomier atmosphere.
