It was your day off. You slept in, what you hadn't done in a long time. You were gonna have this day for yourself.

A self-care day.

That was what you had thought, until someone knocked on your door, entering right after. 'This definitely happens too often', you thought. Maybe you should hang up a sign on your door 'don't enter without asking first'.

You turned your body to face the door, sat up and wiped the remaining tiredness from your eyes. When you looked up, you froze upon seeing your beloved alchemist.

"Ah! Sorry, I thought you were awake already-"

"No, it's fine. What brings you here?"

Only looking at you in silence, he smiled absentmindedly.

"Ha, cute bed-head.", he whispered under his breath, just loud enough for you to be able to hear.

But, you were too tired to actually register what he had said. You stood up, going to your wardrobe to pick out some clothes. You chose a simple knee-length gown.

"Again, what brings you here Varian?"

"Oh, well, we haven't seen eachother in forever and I wanted to hang out. I mean, if- if that's alright with you. If it's not that's totally cool-"

"I'd like that actually."

"Oh. Cool, cool."

You yawned, humming a tune. While you were picking out some jewelry, Varian sat down on a chair, laying his hands on his knees while looking around. You grabbed your hairbrush, yawning a second time.

"You're weirdly endearing when you're half asleep."

That you actually took notice off.

You were sure you looked like a tomato when you walked to the bathroom to change with quick steps. Varian only laughed.

As you disappeared from his line of sight, he turned his attention back on your room. Rapunzel had painted the walls of your room, which is why there were little pictures of you and her together, but also portraits of your friends. Multiple canvases were leaning against the wall and he could only assume that those were your paintings. You had painted rather average things, but it still managed to be special.

It was like you had captured the beauty in the most mundane things. There were some extraordinary portraits of your parents, your sister and even of Cassandra. You had chosen the perfect lighting, capturing their very essence in a single picture. He wondered whether you'd ever draw him. Or whether you had drawn yourself. And he did find some self-portraits. Only that they were fairly abstract. Huh, interesting.

Varian decided not to read to much into it. He heard a door creak open, some light footsteps following.

"Hey (Y/N), I have an idea!"

"Oh? And what might that be?"

You sat down on your bed, feeling at peace.

"What if we draw eachother? I mean, I'm really not good at painting, but it could be fun!"

Your eyes lit up. They were basically sparkling as you jumped up in excitement, clapping your hands. You gathered your things and sat down.

About two hours had passed when the paintings were finally finished. Varian wasn't going to lie, he wasn't satisfied with what he had done. The lines were a bit shaky and messy, and he had smeared some of the paint.

"Hey Varian! Are you done yet?"

"I guess?"

You stepped next to him, looking at the portrait he had made of you. It was silent.
