The time for your speech arrived.

You gulped as you made your way to the front, standing in front of everyone.

At least you got to wear a mask. While it didn't conceal your identity, it was still able to make you feel slightly more comfortable.

Rapunzel awaited you, giving you a quick thumbs up and whispering "You've got this!" upon noticing your nervousness.

You looked at the huge crowd of people that had gathered.

The silence hung heavy in the room.

All eyes were on you.

You fiddled with your hands before closing your eyes, breathing out, and starting to speak.

"Thank you all for gathering here today. It is truly an honour to welcome you all into our halls. The events that have recently occured were tragic,"

You thought back, remembering how desperate Varian had been to free his father. How hopeless he looked when everything he tried had ultimately been for nothing.

"...but they have only brought our community closer together. I am happy to call every citizen of Corona my friend. We've gone through so much together and we've helped eachother through it all. I couldn't ask for better people. So, today I thank you all. I genuinely hope you enjoy yourself. Let the festivities begin!"

Throughout the swarm of people, people congratulated you loudly.

You smiled warmly in response, although it didn't quite reach your eyes.

Next was the first dance.

You had to choose a partner to dance with.

Usually, you had danced with your father.

But this year, you had wanted to dance with someone else.

But, this someone wasn't here, was he?

You scanned the room for a suitable partner when someone tapped you on the shoulder lightly, startling you.

You jerked back, almost falling before the person caught you by your hand.

"Whoa! Careful!"

The person in front of you was clad in very extravagant clothing.

Eye-catching to say the least.

He wore a black suit with turquoise and golden details.

The mask he sported hid his face quite well, but you still recognised him right away.
