-----------

This novel is written by one of my favorite Chinese author. I've read this many years ago and so I'm still trying to recall if MTL got the names right. I'm still on the process of editing the novel, so I might change name and job titles of the characters as I go through. This one is a short novel, around 64 chapters so I'm hoping to finish this novel this week.

It was the middle of spring, with the ice and snow beginning to melt, and the greenery flourishing.

In the mountains, about a hundred miles away from Jiangdong Prefecture, several villages were scattered sporadically.

After a few crowing of roosters, the sun gradually rose from the east, accompanied by the sounds of people and dogs barking, and the rhythmic chorus of frogs and birds in the jungle, breaking the emptiness and silence of the night.

Listening to the sounds outside, Ji Wan'er slowly opened her eyes.

She had been in this place for a few days now.

During these days, she couldn't tell if she was dreaming or if she had truly arrived in this unfamiliar time and space.

She always felt groggy, and her mind was filled with memories that didn't belong to her.

"Creak."

The window frame, worn out over the years, made a faint noise when the wind blew.

The cold wind, carrying the remnants of winter, blew into the house and seeped into the thin quilt that covered her.

Unconsciously, Ji Wan'er wrapped herself in the rough quilt embroidered with small flowers.

The quilt was too coarse, and it had been used for many years, causing her hands to feel a little sore.

If this was a dream, it felt too real.

But if it wasn't a dream, why had she ended up here?

She had only read a novel at night, so how did she wake up and find herself in the world of that novel?

It was an extremely inspirational novel.

The female lead was a daughter from a prestigious family. After her stepmother passed away, her father paid less attention to her. At the instigation of her stepmother, when she was just six years old, her biological father used a trivial mistake as a reason to send her away to a rural estate. As the female lead grew up, she used every means possible to find her way back to the capital city, maneuvering herself among the noble families and successfully marrying the fifth prince, who was the male lead and crown prince. They then worked together to overthrow their political enemies. After the male lead ascended the throne, the female lead became the noble consort. In a turn of events, the female lead, with her cunning strategies, replaced the empress and became the motherly figure of the nation. Her son also became the crown prince.

This was a typical story of a lowly-born female lead's growth and struggle, and it was also an escapist story where the female lead succeeded in everything she did. Although the theme was cliché, it was highly enjoyable to read and hard to put down.

She should have been happy to transmigrate into such an escapist story.

However, unfortunately, she didn't transmigrate as the female lead but as an unimportant character.

What was even worse was that she transmigrated as a vicious and tragically doomed supporting character.

When the six-year-old female lead was sent to the rural estate, the maidservants and maids around her were all expelled from the mansion.
