Lia has been staying with Alex for two weeks now. She told Lana not to worry her of course she did. She was surprised Lia hadn't sent out a search party yet.
Lia stood in the kitchen. Her phone buzzed. It was the director.
Alex walked in and grabbed her phone. "Can I read it?"
Lia nodded and pulled out a box of pasta.
Alex opened the app to read it.

Dear Lia Parrilla,
I am happy to inform you that you have been selected to play Ariel! We will see you in two weeks for our first rehearsal.

Lia smiled softly. Inside she was leaping with joy but she held a simple smile on the outside.
Alex set her phone down. "Congratulations."
Lia stood up. "Thanks Alex. Hey do you want to go for a walk or something?" She asked softly.
Alex stood up. "Sure. Anywhere specific?"
    Lia shook her head.
"Okay I'll grab us some clothes then." Alex said and walked to another room.
Lia smiled as she watched her walk away. This girl had given her so much and she didn't even know her. Lia loved her already.
Alex walked back in and tossed Lia a set of clothes.
Lia thanked her and walked to the bathroom and changed.
Lia pulled her thick curls into a messy bun and walked into the living room.
Alex tossed her a coat. "It's a little chilly."
"Thank you." Lia said and put the coat on.
   She walked to the door.
Alex grabbed two water bottles and the two walked outside.
They walked for a small while.
"Alex? I have a question." Lia said finally.
Alex took a swig if water. "Shoot."
Lia twisted her hands together. "Why are you helping me?"
Alex smiled. "We've been over this. I like you Lia."
Lia didn't know what she was thinking but she grabbed Alex's collar and kissed her.
She pulled away and blushed deeply. "I'm sorry."
Alex looked at her. Her face shocked. "I'm not."
"Really?" Lia asked looked at her.
  Alex smiled. "That was- wow!"
Lia blushed deeper and looked at the sidewalk. "It was?"
Alex grabbed Lia's hand. "Thank you Lia."
Lia smiled and squeezed her hand.
They continued to walk. Lia was so happy.

    "Lia? Is that you?"
Lia stopped and turned around. "Bex." She said softly.
Bex looked at Lia then to Alex. "Who are you?" She asked Alex.
Alex looked at Lia. "I'm her-"
   "Girlfriend." Lia confirmed softly.
It was Alex's turn to blush. "Who are you?"
Bex took a step forward. "I'm Bex Mader. Lia's Aunt. Lia, Lana is worried sick about you. It's a wonder she doesn't have the world searching."
     Lia squeezed Alex hand tightly.
Alex squeezed her hand back reassuringly. "It's okay." She whispered.
"I couldn't let her take away my acting like that." Lia said softly. When she said it out loud it sounded so stupid.
Bex looked at her. "So you ran away? Lia how could you be so stupid?"
"She's not stupid. Lia had every right to take reign of her life." Alex said.
Bex looked at her angrily. "You have no voice in this right now." She turned back to Lia. "You have to come home. This isn't good for you or your mother. Just talk to her. I'm sure you two can work this out."
Lia looked at the sidewalk. "No."
Bex looked at her with sharp eyes. "Excuse me?"
Lia shook her head and looked up. "I said no. Mum doesn't know the first thing about taking care of me. Why should I go back. She's never home anyway." Lia said. "All she cares about it her popularity and her acting."
Bex crossed her arms. "She hasn't been to filming in weeks Lia. She has been locked in her home praying that you'll come home. No one can get her out. That tells me how much she cares. Lia who took care of you when you were young?"
Lia felt her breath hitch. "Mum."
"And when you were in the hospital for weeks who stopped filming to be with you?" Bex asked.
    Lia sighed. "Mum."
"And who took you into her home because she wanted a better life for you? Lia who did that?" Bex asked.
    "Mum did." She said softly.
"And you still want to say she doesn't care?" Bex asked. "Because from what I see she cared an awful damn lot and you're taking that for granted."
Lia felt her chest tighten. "I'm sorry."
Bex uncrossed her arms. "Don't apologize to me. Apologize to your mother." Bex said.
Lia started to pulled away from Alex.
"No I think she should meet who you've been staying with." Bex said.
Alex froze. "Lia I- I can't. I got kicked out for being a lesbian. I- I-" she started to hyperventilate.
"Alex breath. It'll be okay." Lia said softly.
Bex walked over. "Lana is not like that. Alex what your parents did was awful. Lana wouldn't do that."
Alex looked at her. "That's what I thought about my parents too."
