You headed back to the meeting room, and met the eyes of everybody one by one. "So Thor figured out what happened to me..."

"And?" Clint prompted.

Taking a deep breath, you began to speak. "So I'm amongst this rare group of people cursed with this thing called a soul mark which is supposed to help me find my soulmate, it first appears when you turn sixteen years old. If I don't find them in time, then...well, I die, the most painful death you could ever imagine. Then I get sent down to hell by the gods. The mark burns whenever I'm near the person who's supposedly 'destined' to be with me..."

"Wait..." Tony held up a hand to stop you. "That's why you were acting that way earlier?"

"Yeah...and...I don't have much time left until my next birthday...I have until then to find them..."

"So your mark..." he thought, scratching his forehead. "It was burning you earlier...so that means your soulmate...you're saying that they..."

"Are close by, yes," you finished for him.

"We better hurry the hell up, then!"

"Love takes time, Mr. Stark." Crossing your arms, you gave him a hard stare, before rolling your eyes. "And apparently, it likes to repeatedly stab me, too."

-----

You went back to your room, unzipping your training jacket and tossing it aside. Turning your head and glancing around, your eyes landed on your mirror.

You approached the mirror to observe your mark, running your fingers across the smooth surface of the etched shattered heart. Why it was shaped this way, you didn't know. Maybe because you kept failing to find your one true love ever since it appeared.

A knock sounded on the door, and you quickly tugged your shirt down before going to answer it. When you pulled it open, Natasha was standing there. "Hey," she gave you a small smile. "Have you figured out anything else about the soul mark?"

"I realized that on the first day of each new month I'd get this awful pain in my stomach and it wouldn't stop for like, up to half an hour at a time, and then...I don't know. I think it's trying to tell me something...as in...I need to hurry up and find that person...or..."

"Oh geez...that's not...good. Well...anyways, we're being sent off to a mission tomorrow, so I came in to let you know. Info should be given later today."

"Sure." You nodded at the woman before she walked away.

At that same time, Peter was opening his door, coming out of his room, and you were heading downstairs to watch some TV. You locked eyes with him and inhaled sharply, feeling another jab to your side, right where your soul mark was.

You kept staring at each other, but your guys' facial expressions didn't change, although you were fighting hard to keep from grimacing. Clenching your teeth, you groaned as silently as you could, but failed. Peter obviously heard you, and dashed across the hall to catch you before you collapsed to the ground.

Squeezing your eyes shut as the nearly unbearable pain flooded your body, you let out a whimper, wishing that this could all end soon, because you couldn't stand any more of this. Even though this was hurting you, you relaxed a bit when you felt the warmth of Peter's chest against you.

As he kept holding onto you, your chest began aching, bringing new feelings up to the surface. It scared you, because you didn't know what it was and were completely unsure of whether it was necessarily a good or bad thing.
