Raven, Wren, and Aurora were hanging out in the tree in the forest, and Aurora was starting to get very, very, bored.

Sure, she liked the boys. Wren was her best friend, and Raven was nice too. But when they were together, Wren and Raven were like GLUED to each other, and as much of a fangirl as she was, it was starting to get a little gross.

Wren's cousins seemed to agree, because they had all fled in one way or another, leaving her to deal with them and their gross, albeit sweet, flirting. Ugh.

She didn't know why she hated flirting- it was probably because Teal and Pax had flirted with her so much over the years that it just became aggravating. But now Pax basically had a girlfriend (Neither he nor Mora would straight up admit to it, so they weren't official in Aurora's book), and Teal was desperately in love with Sage, even if he didn't know it yet.

Aurora couldn't decide which relationship she liked better at the moment. Pax definitely needed someone like Mora, so those two were a match written in the stars, she supposed Pax would say, but then there was Sage and Teal. Teal, usually an annoying dragon, had found his match alright, and Aurora loved that Sage didn't take any of his crap. In fact, Sage had Teal wrapped around her talon, and she knew it. Teal just didn't realize he was trapped yet. They all looked forward to the day when he woke up and realized how doomed he was.

Seal, as Parch had called them, was probably one of Aurora's OTP's at the moment- but nothing could top Mako and Wisteria. She started wondering where her sister and her boyfriend were at the moment, because maybe a babysitting excuse could get her away from Wren and Raven's goo goo eyes. She glanced over at them, and thought they were having a staring contest with the way they were looking at each other. She had to leave. Surely the rainforest could provide her some sort of excuse.

"I heard that Willow's family is in the village today," Raven admitted suddenly, and Aurora tuned in. FINALLY, something interesting. "Even Stream and Thistle showed up- although I'm not sure why they're here."

"I heard my parents talking about some emerald or something," Wren shrugged. "It's definitely got something to do with Willow, but I don't know what." Because Aurora could even open her mouth, they had gone back to staring.

Dear moons, SAVE ME, she thought, shooting a pointed look towards the sky.

A minute later, someone came trampling through the forest. Someone, Aurora assumed by the sound, who was definitely NOT familiar with flying in the forest. She made a note to thank Aria and the stars later, and hoped that they weren't about to be greeted by that rabid sloth she'd heard was loose somewhere. There was a shout, and a sand colored dragonet tumbled out of the mess of branches and vine into the space below the tree.

Raven and Wren didn't seem to notice anything, so Aurora took the opportunity to flee, and help out the dragonet.

"Hi," She offered, landing on the ground as the dragonet picked twigs off his scales. He eyes her warily, his eyes dull.

"Hello," He said, his voice quiet.

"....Are you Thistle?" She guessed. She couldn't imagine that he'd be left alone at a time like this, but with the way he'd crashed through the forest, maybe he had run away for a bit of peace. He frowned.

"Yes," He sighed.

"Oh," Her voice softened. "Well, I'm Aurora. I'm so sor-"

"Do NOT." He interrupted her, his eyes looking more dead. "If one more dragon tells me they're sorry, I'm going to explode." Aurora fell silent. "Everybody says they're sorry, but they shouldn't. Sorry means you could've done something, but you didn't. No one who's said 'I'm sorry' was there, so they couldn't have done anything. I don't WANT apologies- I just want dragons to stop treating me like I'm glass that's about to break!" Aurora let him rant and listened, because she got the feeling that Thistle just needed to let something out. She didn't know what grief felt like- had never experienced it- but she imagined that it could be quite overwhelming sometimes. When he was done, Thistle stopped and looked at her.

"I didn't mean to rant," He said.

"It's fine," she insisted. "But, uh," She thought for a moment, trying to think of something comforting to say without apologizing. "My mother watched her mom die too. She was a little older than you, but she still saw it. Her aunt killed her. So.... I guess, if you ever want to talk to somebody who knows what it's like, then you could talk to her." Thistle turned his gaze to the floor.

"Dawn says there's a way for us to talk to Willow again. She can't stay or anything, but... She said it would be good closure, and Stream is making me go to see her." He shook his head. "I don't think I can see her. I don't know what I would say."

"Well," Aurora began. "You could always say you're sorry." Thistle snorted.

"I guess." He looked back up at her. "What did you say your name was again?"

"Aurora... So.... first time in the rainforest?" She figured Thistle could use a distraction. Staying focused on something that you hated thinking about was never a good idea, and if everybody else just kept treating him like he was fragile, then maybe she shouldn't.

"Second, I think. But I didn't get to see much of it the first time." She grinned.

"Then allow me to give you the grand tour."
