About an hour later, he arrives.
I hear a knock on the door and I open it. He's dressed in his scrubs.
"Hi" I smiled.
"Hey."
"Come in." He walks in and sets the food on the counter.
"Oh I didn't know Liam was here"
"Yeah he stayed over to help with Alayna"
"How's she feeling?"
"Her fever went down a bit but she's still on her way to recovery."
"Good to hear."
"So how was the hospital today?"
"Pretty normal. Had a few surgeries and consults but otherwise it was pretty okay."
"That's good"
Soon after Alayna walked out.
"Hi Alayna, how are you feeling love?"
"A bit better, thank you."
"That's good! I brought you a peace offering. It's lasagna, my moms classic."
"Wait- seriously?" She asked shocked.
"Mhmm"
She smiled and went straight to hug him. "Thank you thank you thank you! I forgive you- gosh I love food."
We all laughed.
"Any time sweets"
"Luke why don't you join us?" I asked. I mean after all he is in our home so it's nice to offer him.
"No no it's okay I don't want to impose."
"Bullshit" spoke Alayna, "you just made my day. I love pasta. You're staying." She said with her scratchy voice.
"Okay fine."
We all sat down and ate.
"This- this is amazing. " said Alayna.
"I'll be sure to tell my mom that!"
"Gosh I missed your mom's cooking. She always made the best food." Liam spoke with his mouth full.
"She misses you too. She still makes the chicken parm you like."
Liam's face dropped. "No way"
Luke laughed. "Yeah she always thinks of you when she makes it."
"I have to go see her"
"She'd like that" he smiled. "After all you were her fourth son"
We all finished and cleaned up. Alayna took a shower and went to bed. We all sat around it and made sure she took her medicine & was comfortable. After we all gave her hugs and kisses.
"Luke?"
"Mhm?"
"I don't hate you anymore"
He hugged her. "I'm glad you don't, I missed your jokes." He smiled.
"Get some sleep, goodnight hun"
