Out of all the people in the world, he had to be standing in the arch of the kitchen doorway. Why? I do not know...

But, I was going to find out.

"What in the world are you doing?" I questioned. He dropped his bag and walked into the kitchen towards me. I step back still not believing he's standing here.

Before he could utter a single word, Leanor and Mere were hastily down the stairs and halt in shock as they both stare at the boy standing next to me.

Mere smirks as she says "Oh. My..."

"Gosh" Eleanor finishes looking more shocked than I. It does make sense as to why she would be, I mean, he always had this thing for teasing her.

Mere walks towards us, pulling him into a hug; "Damn man, you look so different, I hardly recognise you. How ya been?"

He chuckled as he hugs her back, "Yeah, I missed you too Mere"

"Uh, what are you doing back, Eris?" I ask, "I thought you were still at boarding school?"

"Nah, I figured boarding school wasn't for me. Besides, I wanted to come back and hang with my favourite people... Elen" he moves towards Eleanor, much to her dismay I'm sure.

She's never been his biggest fan growing up, especially because he did enjoy the look on her face when he'd tease her. So, when he tried to hug her just now, I was not surprised as she places her hand on his face and pushes him away.

"Do not touch me, Eris"

He's the only one, as far as I knew, that could ignite that flame inside of her. And no, not the good kind...

"Wow, Elen that hurt my feelings..." He pretends to wipe his fake tears as he points, "almost"

He laughs as be takes his bags upstairs.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is my twin brother.

Not by choice.

-

"He's not going to ruin our day, he's just not" Eleanor mumbles as she gets dressed. She struggles with her top as the spaghetti straps tangle and she lets out an exasperated huff.

I share an awkward look with Mere as I get up to help her.

"Here Leanor, I got it, just relax" I take the top and carefully untangle the straps as she takes a few deep breaths.

"Sorry, I just wasn't expecting him to be back so soon, I thought he was graduating there. At St Bernards. Ugh"

I hand her the top as she thanks me and reply, "yeah, I know. I had no clue he was coming back, my mother didn't say anything, I wonder if she even knows"

"Hm, either way, even though I love him like a brother, he can't ruin this for us" Mere says with confidence.

I love him too because he's my brother but, I do agree. I can't let Eris get in the way of our plan.

-

Operation; Get friendly, is a go.

I'll be honest, talking to Beck is a nightmare for me. We've always been the banter buddies, minus the buddies. We are not friends.

And yet, here I am. Standing right in front of him in the cafeteria line. I don't usually get food from school, I like to pack my own lunch but, for our plan to work. I must sacrifice my crispy chicken and avocado Nigiri.

Having worked at a sushi restaurant allowed me to equip certain skills in order to make my favourite. Yes, I know it probably isn't really Japanese food but, it does taste amazing.

Anyways, back to the matter at hand.

I can see Beck and his band of bozos talking obnoxiously loud, per usual. I roll my eyes and at that exact moment I feel a hand on my shoulder.

As I turn to face the mystery hand I hear my brother shout, "what's up man" he slaps the back of Beck's shoulder and they do that weird bro hug thing.

"Eris, what-"

"What are you doing here, Eris?" I question.

He looks at me weird and says, "uh, I'm allowed to be here El, you don't own the cafeteria, duh"

We smile sarcastically to one another, "Haha yes, I know that" I roll my eyes.

"Wait, what are you doing here El, you usually pack your own lunch..." he stares intently between Beck and I as I narrow my eyes. "ohhhh, oh okay. I see, how long have you been with my sister, Beckinsale Carter"

He places a hand firmly on Beck's shoulder and I cringe.

It takes me a second to realise exactly what he had said, "wait what?! No, ew that is not what is going on. Nothing is going on..."

I can see Beck roll his eyes and say, "come on, Laine I'm not that bad am I?"

Yes. Yes, you are that bad. You really are.

I can hear them laugh as I walk away and I roll my eyes, "Morons"

I place my tray on the table and tell the girls I need to use the bathroom real quick. I can see they're preoccupied as I'm sure they're talking about a particular boy.

I chuckle as I head out.

On the way back I pass by my locker and I see a piece of paper stuck on it. I flip it open as I read the words; I'll see on Saturday, make sure you wear your Fairy Alien Queen costume ;)

Ugh. Beck you god forsaken asshat.
