I wake up at the usual time; 12:30 P.M. feeling the thick layer of morning breath on my teeth. As I get up off my bed, setting my feet on the old and cold wooden floor; I make my way to my bathroom just down the hall, hearing the floor boards creek uneasily.

"Good afternoon, Captain Sleep!" My aunt said, teasing me.

I ignored what she said, focusing on the want to brush my teeth. The smell of alcohol over-took the room with it's nasty stench. I finally get into the bathroom, sighing; starting a new day. I take about 30-minutes to freshen up and make my way out to the kitchen.

"Where's Uncle Evlan?" I asked, sighing; while I grab some pancakes.

I take a second to focus on the scar on the back of my neck in the reflection of the plate-

"He's at the liquor store... H-He'll be back later." She stuttered a little, washing the other plates.

I eat my breakfast, looking outside at the park across the street. I remember when I use to imagine that there were animals there, when I was little and it was like a zoo. Zebra, elephants, lions they were everywhere before this world went to heɬɬ.

"We're running low on rations for food." She said worriedly, "Could you please go into the city and apply for more if it's not much of a hassle?" She asked me, with her eyes in sorrow.

"Yes, Auntie. It's not much of a hassle either." I said, giving her a kind smile to remind her that I'm here. I look more into her tired eyes, I noticed her hair has been getting more gray by the day. With her being a skinny and frail lady, she can't really fight anymore. Which means, I have to step up.

"Don't be gone too long, dear!" I walked down to the city then waited, and waited, and waited in a long line. I finally got up to the stand where a man stood, growing impatient with me.

"Hi, I'm-" I was interrupted, feeling slightly irritated.

"-I don't care. How many rations are you applying for?" He rudely said to me, spitting on me on purpose.

I take out the knife that I always keep in my boot and stab his middle finger. He yelped, with a face of pain. leaving me with a little smirk on mine.

"As many fingers as you have, and that's 1.. 2.. 3.. Oh! Look there's 4 now!" I said confidently, and sarcastically. The rude man who I know him as 'Big Nose Noah' nodded his head in a quick manner, and wrote down my orders.

"Here's your- ah- order, we'll have it delivered to you later tonight." Whenever he said that he had a tiny crack in his voice with to my guess some more feeling of pain.

I walked back home; as soon as I came in, I saw my auntie hitting the floor and I knew he was home.

"That's what you get for not having the house cleaned in time Rosetta!" He said in a tone of anger.

He hit her again, and my heart drained. I ran in front of my aunt.

"Stop it! Don't touch her again!" My eyes blazed with anger and hate. I hated him.

He chuckled, laughing at me with my force of action. His eyes were hungry, I didn't know what for. I could smell the booze from his breath from a mile though. I hissed at him, then threw my knife into his shoulder.

"That's it! You little brat! Come here!" He ignored the knife sticking out of his shoulder. I heard him groan, then him pick me up and drag me into his room. He was on top of me.

"Do as your told and nothing will come of harm." He threatened me to make sure I wasn't going anywhere. He pulled my shorts off, along with my black laced thong.

"Help! Help someone! Please help!" I screamed out.

Watching the sight of the blood drip down his shoulder onto me. I could feel his fingers rubbing against my inner thighs, looking at his green eyes with his blonde hair. I kicked him off of me. I felt a sudden sting on my cheek. He hit me.

"Don't act like you don't want this!" He looked at me angrily, trying to get ahold of me again.

I run away from his grasp, pulling my shorts and thong up. I then grab my backpack, going straight past my aunt.

"Where are you g-g-going?" She asked with fear in her voice.

"I'll be back in an hour." I ran outside, and took off my bike.

There were tears going down my face. Then a car pulled up to me, a familiar black one to be exact. I couldn't make out what car brand it was, but I'm pretty sure I knew the person. They rolled down the window...

"What's wrong with you?" It was my friend Fallon.

I looked at the gravel in distress, and anger.

"Get in the car." She demands. I ditch my bike, getting into the car with her, as I mess with the buttons in the car; like a little kid does.

"I've been fed up with this place too. I can't stand the people. There's too much violence." Fallon sighed while finishing her sentence.

We took a drive all day, and all night; agreeing that we were both leaving. I could smell the fresh air through the window, knowing that we left the corridor. We entered corridor 9, in which we were heading more east into the inner part of it. For the most part corridor 9 was a big-

"Where am I?" I asked waiting to see my aunt. Instead I wake up to bright lights, people surrounding me. Shocked as to not being home, I screamed in fear. Then felt sleepy.

"Come on sweetie open up your presents you'll love what we have for you!" My mother said with a cheery smile on her face. I opened up my present and got my first Barbie doll. Not to mention it was a limited edition.

The sweet dream lasted for what it felt about 20 minutes. Someone is shaking me, hopefully back to reality in my home. Then opening my eyes to bright lights again.

"She's awake." I heard a deep voice say.

I laid my eyes on the man. He has dark hair pushed back, blue eyes, with the most perfect jawline. His lips looked thick and kissable. I don't think he'd be too fond of it. I proceed to look at his buff chest, with him in his pajamas. He was wearing sweatpants and no shirt. He looked a little older than me.

"It's rude to stare. I know you were checking me out." He says, beaming his eyes at me.

My face turned a bright pink, because I knew he was right.

"I was not!" I lied, biting my lip nervously.

"Lie all you want, but I know you were." He confidentially stated.

"Where's my friend?" I asked, looking around frantically.

"Don't worry about her. You were our priority." He smirked, eyeing me up and down.

"What?" I glared at him, catching him look at me.

"What's your name?" He asked, looking into my eyes.

"My name is Lissi..."
