Why an early update? Simply because I might not be available on Friday and Saturday. So yeah.

Only five more chapters to go! I am very excited. Actually, it's four, but I did not include a chapter that I had planned earlier. Let's get on then, shall we?

After Lephar's death, Kraine and Lyho reduced their voice considerably. As much as he hated Lephar, Caelin had not wished for his end. Commander Maahes had taken his life.

That was first loss in days for them. Had Lyho not blown the horn that day, he would have lost Holia too. For that, just for that one single action, Caelin was willing to forgive everything Lyho had done.

"Why did you do it?" he asked, keeping one eye on the battle and the other on the drink she gave him.

"Do what?" Avantika asked, keeping her face innocent. "I did many things. What are you referring to?"

"Why did you make Mika kill Afreen?" He sipped the minted water. "He was your spy was he not?"

Avantika rolled her eyes. "That's right. He was my spy. And as a spy, he should have known not to spill to whom he was working for. He was weak anyway." She waved her hand. "He was no longer any use to me."

"So you just discarded him?" His vision split for a second into the battle. Yerinah were retreating into the passage for the first time. What had they planned?

"He believed he was in love with Cahira," she chuckled. "He thought she would crown him as the next Lord. Then notice his surprise when she maintained her friendship! Not to mention, she found herself a lover. So he convinced himself to love me. He was no use anyway. Afreen was-"

Her words fell deaf on his ears. The scene in the battle was taking his complete concentration. Without Kacela, the death was so cold and distant. Gideon was capable, but he had no mastery over the dead.

Yerinah's army was luring them in and like brainless idiots, they were following. Already nature's wrath and Acracia's fleets ransacked their ships. With combined forces of Katanagia and Acracia, they stood no chance against Yerinah. Fleeing was the only option available to them. But the soldiers who have gone to capture the capital were in the land and their way was free. Kacela was with them. They no longer had a hold on Yerinah's coast. Now they were falling right into the trap.

"I will be back," he said urgently and ran without bothering to listen to Avantika's words.

She shouted after him, but he continued forth. Yerinah had a lot of vengeance against them. It was the time of war, and this was expected, but they had personal revenge. Ever since Lyho killed Commander Plaise two days ago, they were out for his blood as well. When Lyho asked the Guardian's protection, Gideon scoffed and carried on sharpening his blade.
