Chapter Fifteen - One Year Later

Time Skip

1 year later.

"Jack where did you put my car keys." I called through the apartment trying to put my earrings in and find the keys to my car.

"They're near the fridge where you left them last night." I walked over to the unit near the fridge seeing my keys. A few months ago I moved out too New York following Jack who had gotten his Broadway break.

"Got them. Eeep." I was twirled around a kiss planted on my lips. He pulled away.

"What was that for?"

"Can't I kiss the girl I love." I grinned wrapping my arms around him.

"Of course, you seem extra chipper today."

"Do I? Humm." he kissed me.

"See you tonight, yeah?"

"Of course. Now, if you don't let go I'm gonna be late for work." He laughed. I took the keys and giving him one final kiss I left for work at the New York public library.

"Morning, Rita." I greeted my co worker

"Good morning Allison. How are you?" She asked as I out my things safely away

"Well. You."

"Okay, I guess my head is not up to much. Noisy neighbours."

"I told you Rita, cut their power lines sorts them right out" She chuckled. I sorted through the archives and stored some books away. I was kept very busy for a library so big helping people and being surrounded by lots of books This was only one of two jobs that I did. I also worked as a dance teacher for youths learning all that Jack had taught me. So when I finished I went straight to the hall.

"Hello, everyone."

"Hey Miss Allison." Milo one of my older students smiled bring over someone

"Miss Allison, this is my cousin Elvis. He wanted to join." I grinned

"Of course. Any family of Milo's is a friend of mine. Why don't you watch today huh and you can pick up next week. Elivs sat at the side as I called the class to attention.

"Okay we're working on our framework today. So partner up and I'll show you.

"Now we all remember too step on the two ladies you follow your partners lead. The man leads and you follow. I know it's sound like you should be dog training but I didn't make the rules. 6,7,8. 1,2,3,4." I began counting as I watched them.

"Alyssa you're leading, trust your partner he knows what he's doing." I placed my hands on her shoulder

"Good, good. Xander eyes up, you know they steps, you worry she worries. You're doing very well guys. I'm impressed." I continued showing them new steps to add and practice them. When the class finished I said my goodbyes as they dispersed. Milo and Elvis came up to me

"That was great Miss Allison, where did you learn to dance?"

"Just over a year ago at a summer camp." I told him

"That where Miss Allison met her boyfriend." Milo teased a little. I laughed and shook my head

"You've been dancing for just a year? I thought it was longer."

"Thank you but that is a lot of practice and continuing. I still dance with him today and he's always teaching me new stuff."

"Yeah cuz. Mr Jack is the bomb. You know he does Broadway."

"Seriously." the two left with Milo telling him all about Jack. I gathered my things and went. Driving home I started singing along to the radio.

I parked and made my way up to the apartment. Something seemed odd when I smelt smoke. I sped to my door and opened it.

"What's going on I smelt....smoke. Oh." I covered my mouth in shock. Jack stood in the middle of the room with a meal laid out in front of him and candles dotted around him bathing the room in candle light.

"Jack?" He came over and took my hands.

"Hey, baby." I kissed him then looked back at what he had done.

"Hungry?"

"Yes." he pulled me over and pulled out a chair for me. I sat down as he went to the kitchen and brought over two plates.

"Your favourite." He placed down two places of mac and cheese.

"Thank you." He sat down and poured out two glasses of bubbles. I took a sip looking at him all dressed up.

"Okay, have I missed something?" I asked

"Why would you say that?" he chuckled

"Because your dressed up all fancy, you've cooked my favourite dinner with my favourite drink."

"There is also chocolate pudding for after."

"My favourite. Jack Cassidy, you are up to something." I narrowed my eyes at him

"Can't I cook for my girlfriend food and be romantic."

"Jack, you're already romantic."

"True. Look I'm not going to tell you, so just enjoy it. Trust me." I let it go and we continued eating. He brought out the pudding as we talked about our day. He moved the table and started to play music. I laughed as he pulled me towards him and we started moving with the music. I leaned my head on his shoulder smiling. I was so glad that I found someone like him. I concentrated on his heartbeat which was going faster than usual, it was almost like her was nervous.

"Ali." I hummed in response.

"You know I love you right." I looked up at him.

"Of course I do. Why?" He pulled away to hold my arms.

"And you remember when I came back and I told you that I had the time of my life with you that summer?"

"Yes, you told me you loved me."

"And I do. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love you. When I started working at Summerland, I was looking for a fresh start, I found Melissa and then I found you. You taught me so much." I smiled at him

"Do you know where I went after I left?"

"No, you never told me."

"I went to see my Nana. She was the only one to help me after what I did. She helped me get the job. I told her about you. I told her everything that happened and she smiled. She told me it was like when her and my Pops met. She also told me that a love like that doesn't come around much. But when I does, you can't turn away from it. I came back and I told you how I felt.

I didn't know what would happen to us then and I still don't know. But I hope. Do you want to know what I hope for?"

"What?"

"I hope you say yes." I was confused but realised when he stood back and got down on one knee.

"Allison Rose Cullen. I never thought I would say this to anyone. Will you marry me?"
