Down in the aether, you and L sat in a quiet garden weaving ambrosia leaves into a crown. The last thing you had to do before going back to the human realm and informing the taskforce of the plan, and going off to hunt down light.

You were both very silent, like the realness of the situation was just starting to set in. It was quite the strange situation to be in when you were born a human thrusted into this world of deities like L was.

The sun was just starting to set, casting a golden light over the world. You really wanted nothing more than a good nights sleep, but this clearly wasn't going to happen. You watched L weave stems together carefully, you handing him leaves to use in silence. You sensed something was wrong.

"You ok?" You asked.

He was silent, for a moment he just stopped weaving and sat there. Then he sighed, sinking into his hands and sniffling.

"Why is everything going wrong?" He said, voice breaking as tears began to fall.

Poor baby, so overwhelmed. He never expected to go into this case and end up a deity, but here he was. Sitting in a while other realm with wings, magic items across his belt, ambrosia leaves in his lap and the sense of impending doom the back of his mind. You pulled him into your arms and let him sob onto your shoulder.

"Because light is a grade A asshole. Don't overthink things you'll just hurt yourself. We'll catch him, I'll spill his guts if I have to" you replied.

"But this is all on me. The humans want me to catch him, the deities want me to catch him, the whole situation has lead to the soul collection and reincarnation process being thrown out of whack..."

"You didn't start all this, he did. Don't blame yourself for taking so long to catch him, he has a literal death note. The man is slippery and dangerous, not even the Kami can stop him just yet"

"But what if we never find him? What is he's vanished and fled the country or something?"

"I doubt that. He's a Japanese teenager human who's only other language knowledge is school level English. His only source of income is his parents and if he wants to vanish he'll have no way of paying for anything without it being traced back to his parents. He'll be in Japan somewhere"

You gently rubbed his back, wrapping your wings around him for extra comfort. He'd become more emotional since becoming a deity, you kind of have to be if you're a love deity. It's just in a deities nature to be emotional. He probably wasn't used it it.

"Where are we even going to start? What if he's on the other side of the country how will be even catch up to him before mass panic starts?" L questioned.

"Honey, calm down. Stop thinking about it. We'll find him, right now you need to finish your crown and we have to head down to the human realm to tell the taskforce what's happening. There's still many chapters in this unfolding story to go, we'll get through them all at the right pace" you replied.

He smiled at you, wiping the tears from his eyes.

"Fuck I'm not used to this emotional stuff..." he laughed.

"It's always jarring at first but you'll get used to it"

Sharing a kiss, you gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. Taking a breath to calm himself, he took the lead you'd picked out for him.

"Thank you" he said.

"You're welcome"

"I love you"

"I love you too" you smiled.

With a few more leaves woven into the crown, it was finally done. He gave it a pull to make sure it wouldn't break and it was all held together well enough to be a proper crown.

"It's a bit messy... I've never made plant crowns before" he said.

"It looks fine! Messy is your thing. It'll match your wild hair"

He handed you the crown to look over, you quite liked it. Most deities seem to go for a thin, vine, elegant look. He had more of a thick, wreath like crown with varying leave sizes and patterns. It suited his look quite well.

"It's very you, I like it" you said.

"Thanks, I guess it's ok for a first try" he replied.

You placed the crown on his head, completing his deity look. You couldn't wait until humans began painting and sculpting this look. He was such a gorgeous deity. He was a pretty human, but glowing as a deity. It was like his inner spark had been lit.

You looked out over the edge of the cloud cover that made up the floating island you were on, the aether was made up of many floating islands, a big main one and lots of little ones around it. The human realm was starting to get dark. The sun now r the horizon.

"We should head back, it'll get dark soon and flying in the dark with a thick cloud cover blocking the moon is a recipe for disaster" you said.

"I wouldn't put it past myself to fly into a goose or something" L snickered.

"Done that, not fun. Got stalked by that stupid bird for weeks"

You got up to your feet, stretching your limbs.

"Nice one shoe by the way" L said.

You looked down at your feet. Your real foot wearing a slipper and the prosthetic wearing a lovely item called air.

"Oops, I keep forgetting to put shoes on that... can't feel it anymore you know?"

"Can't you grow it back you know since you're a deity?"

"I'm not a lizard growing back it's tail. There's limits to magic. We die in our human bodies and an immortal soul inhabits them. That soul can heal us but not grow while limbs. If that was possible I'd have an extra set of arms. That would be a cool look" you said.

"Ah that makes sense. Everything had rules and limits" he replied.

"Some just stretch further than others. But honestly, I've totally gotten used to the fake foot now"

You surprisingly adjusted pretty quick, maybe you had one in a past life you don't remember but the motor memories remain?

"Hey, you know what you can do with a that foot now?" L smirked.

"What?" You replied.

"If anyone ever calls you fake you can just take off your foot and tell them that's the only fake part about you"
