You scoff.
It's not true.

There's an itch in the back of your head that's telling you to believe, to believe Aguni's the witch.
You have to believe.

But you don't.
There's nothing that adds up.

Ever since... Hatter's death, there's been something off.
Something out of place.

Finally, you knew what that was.

A game.
A gunshot.
A. Close. Knit. Friendship.

"He's not the witch."

You felt Chishiya huff before even hearing it.
His breath fans over your neck and you almost flinch in surprise.

He's so close to you.

"How do you know?"
"Because Aguni killed Hatter not Momoka."

Chishiya instantly questioned your words.
As much as he wanted to believe you, it was just ridiculous.

Aguni: a selfish, dangerous, murderous man.
He should be the definition of a witch.

But then again, there's you.
You have never been wrong.

Not once.
He needs to trust you.
Trust you and your words completely.

"And how do you know that," he asked, mostly to reassure himself.

"Because I know everything."

He deadpans, hard.
Without even facing him, you knew he rolled his eyes.

"Just-" you paused, leaning back and feeling his jacket graze your own.
Your gaze traveled over to Arisu and his struggling state. "Just watch."

He forced down the warmth of the close proximity and did as you said.

Everyone in the crowd backed up uneasily at the confirmed statement.
The remaining militants raised their weapons at him.

Aguni dropped his gun and walked forward, I afraid of the gun that pressed into his forehead. "Shoot me."

There was a gleam in his eyes, a streak of emotion that would've passed you if you'd have not known the truth.

"Shoot me!"

"Aguni is not the witch!"
Again, Arisu cuts through the curtain of tension.

You smile.

"This is a Ten of Hearts. A game that toys with people's feelings. It's not a game where you win by killing Aguni," Arisu shouts from his weak position on the floor.

"You're not the witch," he repeats. "So why? That's because you have another motive."

Chishiya quirks an eyebrow.
He feels the pride that starts to radiate from you.

Could you be right?

"The one you killed... was not Momoka. It was Hatter."

There's suspense in the silence, followed by shock, then disbelief.

"I found out after I saw your eyes," Arisu explains and you praise every bit of his intelligence. "Those eyes... I had them after I killed my friends."

Aguni doesn't react.
He's emotionless.

"You aren't dumb. It's not like you to go and kill everyone. You had another motive."
Arisu struggles to get to his feet.

"Ever since I came to the Beach, I thought it was strange," he admits. "If you had all these firearms, the militants would have gained control a long time ago."

You freeze.
Chishiya can feel you tense against his chest.
What is it?

"It took me sometime to realize, but... you and Hatter help eachother, don't you?"

You gulp.
Had he noticed that much?

"I didn't realize it until I saw Nigari threaten Y/n during the meeting. You... you looked worried... for her."

Arisu's observational skills blew your mind.
He was speaking from what he saw, and learned from it.

"It was obvious from Y/n, but you... you wanted to make sure dangerous people like Nigari don't go on a rampage."

You're painfully aware of the death grip Chishiya has on your jacket — and the daggers he's staring into your skull.

"Is it true," he asks, voice barely above a whisper.

He didn't know what to think.
It was difficult enough to even believe that you and Aguni wanted the same thing.

That's how you know about the cause of Hatter's death.
You were in ties with Aguni.

"Yes," you reply, breathless and scared of what was to come.

"Okay."
He's hovering over you intimidatingly, chest to back, and his one worded response shakes your bones.

Is he mad?
Disappointed?
Hurt?

"I understand," he adds and it fills you with confusion.

"What?"

"You're smart, Y/n," he says, voice so close to your ear that it makes your legs weak. "I trust you."

His hands goes from your jacket and it ghosts your waist as he lets it fall back to his side.
"I assume you want to go down there?"

You nod with no hesitation.
"I do. I'll be careful and-"

"I trust you," Chishiya repeats, turning you around to face him.

"Okay," you mutter, eyes fluttering as you nervous look away from his eyes. "We clear this game. You get the card, and I'll meet up with you."

"Sounds like a plan," he agrees, grinning against his own will.

God, you make him so soft.
He just wants to pull you back in as you smile and silently step away from him.

In a moment of confidence, you look him in the eye.
"Oh, Shiya?"

He gives you a small glance, hoping to look careless as he gets his emotions under control. "Hm?"

Your smile grows as you give him the biggest and brightest grin you can muster.

"I think I'm interested."
