AUDELIA'S POV

"The Russians."

"You have got to be kidding me." I pinch the bridge of my nose, letting out an irritated breath. "Do you know anything?"

"No." He says quickly. "Please let me go. They will kill me."

"Answer only what you are asked!" I shut him up as I reach for the gun that rests on the table not too far away.

"Please-" His pleas come to a halt as the tip of the gun traces his jaw, tilting his head up to meet my eyes.

"Do you know anything else?" My eyes narrow in a hard glare.

"We just entered and this was our first mission."

"First and only." I correct him and the look on my face makes him gulp. "Did you see anything? The person who ordered you to do so?"

"It was through a call."

"Hmm. And how did you get in here?"

"We got the key to your apartment." He says, surprising me.

"Anything else?" I ask, processing the information.

"No."

"Then you are of no use to me." His eyes widen but he remains quiet, coming to terms with his fate. A pullet pierces his head, his blood splattering all over my floor and I groan at the mess. I throw my gun on the couch as I go to open the windows to allow some fresh air to enter the room.

Not long after someone knocks at the door. "Hey." I greet Rick as he enters the room, a few men in tow along with the vet.

"Are you alright?" Rick asks me as we advance towards the living room. He assesses the room as the others get to work, cleaning up and removing the bodies. I show the vet to the room.

Except for the three dead bodies, a broken door and blood on nearly all surfaces, everything is normal.

"Yeah. Only irritated." I mumble as they carry the body out of my bedroom. His blood dripping on the beige rug and I hold back a groan.

He places a hand on my shoulder, getting my attention. "Who were they Audelia?"

"The Russians." I roll my eyes. "It's been a month since the last time they attacked and that was at the gala. I don't know what they want." I lead him to the kitchen where I grab a bottle of water. "We all thought that they attacked because most of the mafias were gathered at one place and it was easy to eliminate us." I say as I open the bottle and drinking. "There must be something else."

"How did they get in here?"

"Apparently, they got the key to my apartment." I say. "Send a few of your men to question the manager of this complex. If they got the key, they most probably got them from him or they made a duplicate. Also, I need the security footage of the week. They must have been observing me to know when I would be out."

"On it." He says, leaving the kitchen.

I head to my room, and a smile breaks on my face when I see Arrow sitting on my bed. "Thank you for coming at such an odd hour." I tell the Vet as I sit on the bed, petting Arrow. He looks a bit daze and lacks his usual energy but as long as he is fine.

"Anytime." He replies, packing his supplies into his bag.

"Are there any side effects that I should be worried about?" I ask him.

"No. Let him rest and he should be fine." He informs me. "He will a little off and not as energetic but he will be fine. If anything is wrong, just call me."
