AUDELIA'S POV

The coffee shop is calm and silent except for the light melody that drifts through the room, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The cosiness of the place is the perfect getaway from our hectic lives.

Valeria, Giovanni, Lucas, Lorenzo and I sit around a table in the back corner of the shop, away from straying eyes.

"I am still waiting for the speech about how grateful you are to have me as your best friend and express your undying gratitude to me while pledging your undying loyalty to me." Lucas' eyes bounce between me and Lorenzo as we sit across from him.

Lorenzo and I both let out a sigh in unison. "Fuck off, Einstein." I shake my head to myself.

"I think the word you are looking for is 'Thank you'." He makes quote signs in the air, giving me his million-dollar smile.

"I still can't believe this." Valeria says under her breath, disbelief in her words as well as her expression. "So now what?" She asks. "You two are together, then?" She points at both of us.

"As in girlfriend and boyfriend?" Giovanni adds, his own eyes curiously darting between Lorenzo and I.

"Leave the love birds alone." Lucas throws a playful glare at Giovanni and Valeria. "No need to drag them with you in your exile from love and sex."

"We did not ask you." Valeria says pointedly at Lucas.

I roll my eyes, slumping back in my chair at their exchange. Lorenzo's hand come to rest on my thigh, his thumb drawing small circles. I look to the side, meeting his eyes and giving him a small smile. My hand rests on his and he interlaces our fingers together.

It has been a week since the night at the club where we cleared things out and we just told the others- except Lucas, who already knew- about our relationship that has yet to have a label.

Neither Lorenzo nor I were rushing to put a label on what we had between us since we are not even sure about it either. Yes, we like each other- maybe more than like- but with the things between our mafia, I do not know where exactly we stand.

I am not interested in knowing either, afraid of the consequences. I do not want to take the risk of revealing this to Ezra and my father in fear that whatever is starting between us will come to an end instantly.

All that I know is that we like each other, we had sex and he claimed me as his.

"Do you think they will ever get along?" I ask, leaning close to him as Lucas and Valeria enter a heated conversation about who is the better friend for me.

"Doesn't matter." He shrugs and I shake my head.

"You are her friend. I am her best friend." Valeria glares at Lucas.

Lucas scoffs. "I am her best friend too."

My eyes widen slightly. Firstly, I had no idea when Lucas and I became friends. And now, I don't know when we became best friends- his words, not mine.

"You are not her best friend."

"I beg to differ." He comments, his eyes piercing those of Valeria.

I hold back a laugh at the look of horror on Valeria's face when her eyes snap to me. She points to Lucas, frowning. "You are best friends with him now? And you did not even tell me?"

"I mean," I trail off in an awkward voice, not knowing what to say.

"See, she did not say yes." Valeria says victoriously. "Take that!" She juts her chin out, proudly.
