AUDELIA'S POV

"I still find it extremely suspicious." Ezra says as he continues typing on his computer.

I sigh, propping my legs up on his desk and leaning back in the chair, twirling a pen in my hand as a file rests on my lap.

"I agree." Valeria speaks up as she sits on the chair next to me, scrolling through her phone while Ezra and I complete the work related to the business.

"Why would they not take advantage of such an opportunity? It was given to them on a platter." I add. "But, on the bright side, your birthday party went without any hindrance." I shrug.

"These Russians are frustrating. What are they up to." He grumbles.

"I don't know but I can assure you that they have not given up on their quest of destroying us. If it even is their quest."

"We have not even found a proper reason behind their actions." She nearly exclaims. "No amount of hacking has gotten us anywhere. It is like they have not done anything when they nearly killed us on several occasions."

"Like I said, they are always a step ahead of us."

"We cannot stop trying though. With the absence of the Italians, we can only rely on ourselves." Determination is set in his words.

"I wonder when they will be back." Valeria says under her breath, a sense of longing in her voice.

"How did you maintain a long distance relationship for two years but cannot stay away for two weeks?" I whisper in her ears while Ezra is distracted by whatever is on his screen.

"Well, he would call me, unlike these two weeks." She says in a hushed tone, keeping her gaze on Ezra. "Did you hear anything from Enzo?"

"Last time I heard from him was when he told me about their mission." I sigh.

"Do you think," She trails off. "something happened to them?" A look of worry flashes in her eyes and I feel my heart drop to the pit of my stomach for a split second.

"They are fine." I give her a reassuring smile though, I cannot help the negative thoughts that creep into my mind. "They have to be."

It has been two weeks since Ezra's birthday party and all of our efforts and planning went in vain as well as the departure of the guys for a mission in Italy related to their mafia. Ever since they left, we did not hear anything from them. No calls. No texts. Nothing.

Lorenzo had told me that they might not be able to contact us while they are back in Italy but still, I could not help but worry. Especially since Valeria has already placed the seed of apprehension in my mind that does not stop growing each second.

"I miss them." She says in a detached tone and at the same time Ezra's phone rings.

"If Lucas hears you miss him too, you are never hearing the end of it."

"I have no doubt about that. It is his job to be annoying." She scoffs.

"What happened?" I ask as Ezra puts down his phone, a somber look on his face. I remove my legs from his desk, closing the file and placing it on the table, awaiting his answer.

"Stefano called." Valeria and I share an apprehensive look. "Lorenzo, Giovanni and Lucas got hurt on their mission."

"Are they fine?" Valeria and I asked immediately, sitting up straight in our seats.

"They are in the hospital from what he said and will be back in two weeks."

"Two weeks?" Two more weeks of not seeing Lorenzo and without any news on whether he is fine or not.
