Audelia's POV

My entire body feels heavy, as if a weight has been tied to me, preventing me from moving any part of my body. I snuggle deeper in my pillow, letting out a groan at the soreness in my joints. Not a second later, I freeze. The once soft and fluffy pillow now feels stiff and I can feel it move.

I turn my head away from the pillow, only to let out a groan at the throbbing in my head. My eyes flutter open lightly and I am met with black fabric. My eyes trail up the fabric only to be met a pair of whiskey eyes that I am now familiar with, watching my every movement with an eyebrow raised.

Confusion takes over my senses as I register the silence combined with the whistle of the wind, the rustling of leaves and birds chirping in the distance. Then everything falls in place as memories from last night come rushing back- the Russian, the plan, the warehouse, explosions, fire, forest, finding the church all the way to the part I found myself in his arms.

For a quick second it feels as if we are the only to person in our own little world with the events of last night non-existent. However, the reality come crashing back as his words feel like a bucket of ice cold water being dumped on me.

"I would appreciate it if you could get off me." His voice comes out cold and distant and I frown at his tone. He can say it in a more polite way with a tone a little less rude.

Before he can see my frown contort into embarrassment, I quickly get to my feet, nearly tripping while doing so but regain my balance swiftly. The muscles in my body ache as I attempt to stretch my arms and back.

The impact from jumping out of the window, the effect of the blast, combined with the sleeping position during the night has done nothing to alleviate the soreness and muscle cramps. My hands skim the side of my forehead only to come back with little bits of dry blood. I sigh as Lorenzo stands up next to me. His own wounds are no different.

Dusting off the dirt and soil from my clothes as well as skin, I proceed to remove his jacket but midway in the process, he stops me. "Keep it on."

"No thanks." I say firmly as I remove it.

I extend it towards him but his hands stay rooted at his sides while he throws me an unbothered look. Taking the hint that he is not going to take it, I let go of it and it falls to the ground, pooling at his feet.

I instantly miss the warmth of the fabric and his strangely comforting feel but I refuse to keep it on after how he talked to me earlier. Letting go of his hand, I turn on my heel, passing a hand through my tangled hair and make my way to the door.

"Audelia-"

"We need to leave." I cut him off, my tone mirroring his tone from when he told me to get up.

Among all the countless laws they teach at school there is only one that I agree with, understand and have abided by ever since I learnt it. Newton's third law- Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Hence, the way Lorenzo treats me is also the way he gets treated by me.

Equal and opposite.

I open the door lightly, wincing at the creaking sound before peaking outside. Seeing nothing alarming, I open it fully and step out. I am instantly hit by the cold yet refreshing morning wind. I can feel the goosebumps rise all along my exposed skin but I continue walking.

We might have survived the night but what are the chances that we will find our way out of this forest? We are lost with no weapons, food or any way to contact anyone. Not to mention that I have no clue where the others are.

Did Valeria get back safely?

What about Lucas and Giovanni?

What are they doing currently? Are they looking for us or do they think that we are dead?
