Fire Phoenix

Chapter 5

"Holy shit" I said as I walked out of the car.

Dick held up his detective badge letting the police know he was allowed to be here. "I'm with him," I called out.

"Wow whoever did this is fucking powerful." I said as I walked closer to the bathroom hole

"You think someone did this." Dick asked me

"Dick I have fire powers. I think I can tell the difference between a person having fire coming out of their hands and a bathroom fire." I snapped back in a joking way

"Okay, jeez." Dick said as he walked over to a body? "Oh shit, he did not have a good day." I said, trying to lighten the mood.

"Have you done anything like this?" he said far away from anyone so they couldn't hear

I shook my head, no, as we headed into the building.

"What's the most dangerous thing you have done with your powers?" Dick asked me as he sat down a computer putting his card into the side of it

"I haven't really done anything crazy besides burning objects. But I have walked through fires." I said answering his question

"You can walk through fire?" Dick yelled out but not enough for people to hear

"Yea, it kinda is the reason I survived the fire in my house." I in an annoyed tone, he was asking to many questions

"Okay done" he said as the video downloaded. "What's that?" I asked

"Camera footage so then we can see who did this." He said back as we walked out the building and to the car.

We stepped into the car and Dick turned on the video. I watched as Rachel was taken with the dad of the family to the bathroom then a woman came and burned the guy and then took Rachel.

"What are you doing?" I asked him as it looked like he was analyzing the license plate of the car the lady drove.

"I am finding Rachel and this woman's location."
Dick answered as he started the car.

"I don't know who she is but she's a badass" I said as we led the gas station. "I am going to take a nap. It seems like we have a long way ahead of us and I need rest."

"Okay" I heard Dick say as I went to sleep.

After a few hours I believe I woke up to an arcade. "Look Dick I am sure you have had a hell of a week but an arcade, seriously, we have to find Rachel. Any other time yes but now no." I said as I opened up the door

"No, Rachel is here." Dick said annoyed with my comment.

"Excuse me, Hey I gotta talk to you." Dick said as we walked up to the magenta haired woman, "Yeah, take my number." The lady said, I slightly laughed at her comment

"About Rachel." Dick said annoyed with the woman. "You must be Dick and Ember from Detroit" the woman said, I was surprised she knew me and Dick's names but Rachel probably told her.

"Where is she?" Dick said, more annoyed than before. Someone obviously didn't take a nap in the car, I thought.

We all walked over to Rachel and this green haired boy played an arcade game. I had a small wave as Rachel went to hug me surprised by my visit then went back to standing next to the boy. I also have a wave to the boy next to her.

"Hey come on. We're going." Dick said in a demanding tone

"What are you doing here? I am okay with Ember being here but why you?" Rachel snapped at Dick

I smiled slightly, someone said they wanted me with them.

"Now is not the time, okay?" Dick yelled slightly back

"Look, Dick I think Rachel should come with us too but you don't have to be so demanding." I said, trying to ease the tension for me and the boy next to Rachel.

"Why are you here?" Rachel snapped again. Well my plan didn't work, I thought.

"Can we talk about this later? Let's go" Dick said as he walked off followed by the woman and Rachel. I followed behind her but turned around to mouth the words sorry to the boy before turning back around to follow them outside.

"Rachel, we gotta get you somewhere safe." Dick said as we walked out of the arcade. "Do you know who sent that weird family after her?" The woman asked

"Who the hell are you?" Dick interrupted, to be honest I have been wondering the same thing.

"I don't know," the woman answered. I just looked at her in confusion, "But somehow Rachel's the key to finding me out."

"Is that why you kidnapped her?" Dick snapped. "She didn't kidnap me. She saved me." Rachel interrupted, "How's Dawn? Is she.." I just stared down, trying to ignore her question, as we walked outside of the arcade

"Rachel" Dick interrupted, "I read what happened online. Is she going to be okay?" Rachel asked with concern

"We can only hope," I said, trying to lessen her concern.

"Who's Dawn?" The magenta haired lady asked, "I really can't talk about this right now, okay? The cops are looking for you. They think you killed your mom."

"That's news" The woman said jokingly, "That he failed to mention." Rachel added.

"And, they're looking for you, too." Dick said, turning his head to the woman. And stopping our little walk. "Assault on multiple officers. Arson, not to mention kidnapping."

"Badass" I said to the woman and she gave me a wink in response

"Like I said, she didn't kidnap me." Rachel said, "She saved me when you didn't."

"Well, that's technically true...Dick." The woman snapped. I laughed at her comment.

"Gee, that's a new one." Dick said in response, "I mean you did chose for people to call you Dick"
I said then Dick gave me a death stare of annoyance. I just rolled my eyes, folding my arms across my chest.

"I'm not going without her." Rachel snapped, "What she said."What she said" The woman added, "I wouldn't be opposed to the idea." I said adding on to the girls.

"Can you please tell me what the hell is going on?"
Dick asked. "You left me." Rachel answered

"No I didn't" Dick yelled back. I rolled my eyes at his comment, yea you did I thought.

"You might as well have. You were going to. I read the note. You were going to leave me with them? Not to mention you didn't mention Ember at all, where was she going to go. She has nowhere to go, we are all she has. And you were going to dump us both off at separate places till when." Rachel yelled

I looked down, holding back my tears. I wonder how she knew all of this. It must have been when she touched me.

I could see all eyes all on me without me even looking until Dick took the attention. "I just needed time to figure things out."

"Stop" Rachel yelled, "Stop lying," this wasn't going to end well.

And I was right because that second all windows of cars 100 of feet away broke and the alarms went off. "I need to go back to the sisters." She yelled.

"Okay" Dick answered, leading the way to the car. "Come on, let's go." I said as I grabbed Rachel's shoulder pulling her into a mini hug. "How did you know that about me?" I asked her on the way to the car

"I could see it when we touched the roof." She answered. "Oh" I mumbled. She pulled me into another hug.

After we all drove off out of the arcade parking lot we drove to a church not too far from there
