JANET POV

"Morning baby" Aunt Ruby said giving me a kiss on the cheek as me and Trevante came downstairs seeing her in the kitchen.

"Good morning" I said back.

She didn't say anything to Trevante, she paid him dust as she was eating and drinking a small bottle of beatbox juice which has 11% alcohol in it. He chuckled and opened the fridge.

"Ummm anyways. It's almost 11 and Ivory is still sleeping which is odd" I said.

"You sure she's aight?" Trevante asked.

"Yeah, she seems fine. Just a bit tired probably, that's all" I said.

"Oh that girl don't know nothing about getting tired. I had to give her some of this, to keep her calm because she was crying earlier" Aunt Ruby said lifting up the beatbox juice and my eyes widened.

"Aunt Ruby say you didn't!" I said.

"No disrespect aunt Ruby but I cannot have you giving any type of alcohol to my baby!" Trevante said raising his voice a bit.

"I heard your mother gave you plenty!" Aunt Ruby said to him.

"Hey! That's enough!" I said.

And where did she hear that from because I never told her that.

"Now I gotta check to make sure she's okay" I said rushing up the stairs and they followed me.

"Calm down! I know she's fine, it's not even that much alcohol in it" Aunt Ruby said.

"So fuckin what- Man- Janet talk to her" Trevante said.

"Will you hush your fuss?!" Aunt Ruby yelled at him.

"Stop it! Just stop it" I said as I got to Ivory's room, and I started to wake her up.

"Ivory, Ivory baby" I said and she slowly opened her eyes and yawned a bit.

"You okay?" I asked her, making her lift herself up.

She nodded her head and rubbed her eyes before saying "Yeah" in a sleepy tone.

"You sure?" I asked and she replied "Yes"

"Told you!" Aunt Ruby said, and I just rolled my eyes and ignored her.

"Okay umm, me and daddy are gonna take you to the park. You wanna go?" I asked.

"Yes!" She said stretching her arms out.

"Okay put your shoes on and meet us downstairs okay?" I said, and she nodded her head.

Then me, Trevante and aunt Ruby left out of the room. "Aunt Ruby you know we appreciate you and we love having you here" I started off.

"But you gone have to respect our house and the way we raise our daughter." Trevante said.

"Yes. You cannot give my daughter any type of alcohol, at all. That's not okay. Glory to God she's fine" I said.

Aunt Ruby looked at me and squinted her eyes. "You think I came here trying to disrespect your house?" She said.

"No, I'm just-"

"You have become very ungrateful!" Aunt Ruby said.

"How?!" I said back.

"Look aunt Ruby all were saying is-" Trevante started off trying to grab her hand but she yanked it yelling "OH DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME!"

My eyes widened as I pulled Trevante back. "AS GOD AS MY WITNESS YOU WILL GET YOUR THIRD STRIKE RIGHT HERE AND NOW!" She yelled at Trevante.

Trevante threw his hands up and shook his head saying "Man whatever"

"Trevante look just go get Ivory okay please" I said sighing.

"Aunt Ruby-"

"Don't say nothing to me especially if you're gonna make excuses for that sorry ass, disrespectful man!" Aunt Ruby said.

"I'm disrespectful?!" Trevante said.

"Trevante go get Ivory" I said and he walked off.

"I gotta get the hell out of this HOUSE!" Aunt Ruby yelled as she walked off to her guest room and I sighed.

Three hours later

"Your aunt Ruby came to me, told me what happen" My mom said smoking her cigarette as she sat down in the chair, she came to get her hair done.

I sighed. "Mom I tried. But she gave my baby alcohol and I'm not with that. It's be the grace of God that Ivory was fine" I said.

"Yeah I know. I told my sister about herself, don't worry" My mom said.

"She was really upset because Trevante was trying to talk to her about that as well, she just took things personal." I said.

"I'm already knowing. She can be a bit much." My mom said.

"A bit? I love aunt Ruby but it ain't just a bit" I said and we both laughed.

"True. Now she's at my house so y'all good." My mom said. "Baby you are doing it up in here" She added looking around my salon.

She doesn't come here much, so she hasn't seen the new decor till now.

"I try mama. Thank you" I said. "So what we doing to your hair today?" I asked her as I put the cover up around her.

"Whatever you want to suga. Long as it includes, everything you can do" My mom said and I chuckled.

She a trip.

"Everything I can do huh?" I said laughing. "Lemme get you an ash tray" I added before grabbing it and handing it to her. "There you go" I said.

"I was thinking you could touch up the color of my roots" She said continuing to smoke her cigarette. My mom is the only person I let smoke cigs in my damn salon.

I wish she'd quit that shit.

"I got you. Touch your roots up, then give you a silk press. It'll be cute" I said.

"And then you gotta let me take you out as payment" She said.

"Aht. Mama I prefer money as payment" I said to her.

She relit her cigarette and said "Janet you know it ain't right to charge ya mama"

I looked at her then sighed before chuckling.

She blew smoke out of her mouth and said "So we going out or what?"

My mom is one of them moms that's wild, filled with energy, still be partying and all. That can be a good and a bad thing.

"Look, lemme call Trevante and see if he's able to watch Ivory when we go out okay?" I said.

"Mhm, go head baby, call him when we done" She said and I chuckled shaking my head. "Always finessing somebody" I mumbled.

"I ain't finessing nothing" She said and I laughed saying "Yeah okay. Come on, I'm finna wash your hair"
