Αhkmenrah's POV

I woke up to being in a tangled mess with Katalina. Her head was on my chest. I kissed the top of her head and she stirred a little.

She finally woke up and looked up at me. She smiled at me. I smiled back at her and kissed her forehead.

"Good morning," She said. I don't want to leave this moment ever.

"Good morning," I said back to her. She stretched and sat up. I want to take her out of the Nile later today.

"I am going to clean myself." She said and went into the washroom.

After she was done I went in and she went down to her room and got ready for today. When I was done I was going to her room when Kahmunrah stopped me.

"So Ahkmenrah and Katalina." He said with his lisp. "She is not of royal blood though." He said in his annoying tone.

"I cannot help that I've fallen in love with her," I said and he smirked.

"Oh, poor baby brother has finally fallen in love and can't even marry the one he loves." I tried getting past him but he grabbed my shoulder cape making me turn to face him. "I will not be able to refrain myself from telling you 'I told you so' when she leaves you." He said and walked away. Instead of going to Katalina's room, I went to the royal adviser.

"Pharoah Ahkmenrah. What can I assist you with?" He asked when I entered.

"I do know I am supposed to marry a princess or queen, but I have fallen in love with Katalina. And Kah says she will leave me." I said expressing myself. He is the only one I am open with. I have to trust him.

"You have fallen in love? You have had yet to have done that with any of the sponsors. I do not think she is a bad choice. Yes, you will make the others mad by marrying her but they cannot do anything about that. And don't listen to Kahmunrah. He's been telling you silly things since you were 3 weeks old." I nodded and started to leave. Before I could make it to Katalina's room the royal priest came to me.

"King Ahkmenrah, I was instructed before your father died to show you and educate you on a rather important topic."

"Right now?" I asked. He nodded and I followed him to a room I've hardly been in. There was a blanket covering something on a table in the corner of the room.

"This, Ahkmenrah, is the golden Tablet Of Ahkmenrah. Your father had it built when you were born. None of us know why. And only I know some secrets to it," He said. Why was I never told about this tablet? It was built for me, under my name. I stayed silent for him to continue and he did. "No one else can know about it. But you are to be buried with it in your tomb. It is said to grant life to those who have lost it." After he told me a little more about this tablet he finally let me go and I finally made it to Katalina's room and knocked on the door. She opened it and smiled at me.

"I am sorry. I would have come sooner but I had to talk to the advisor, and the priest and Kahmunrah stopped me from coming to you." She laughed lightly. "What is so funny?" I asked.

"You trying to explain yourself. I am not upset. I understand you have meetings with people and you are ruling a country. Worry about that before me," I smiled at her kindness.

"Well, would you like to see the city with me again? We can go by the Nile." I said and she nodded.

"What is the Nile?" She asked as we were walking out of the palace.

"The Nile is the river."

"Oh yes!" She said. We continued to walk and greet people as we passed by. The people have gotten used to Katalina being around they don't question her anymore. Which is a very good thing.

As we approached the river Katalina began looking for flat rocks. After she couldn't find any she stood back up next to me.

"Would you like to go on a boat ride with me?" I asked her pointing towards the boat. She nodded excitedly.

"I would love to," She said. We went to the boat and I helped her in and then got in it myself. A few of the guards pushed the boat so it was no longer on land and I started paddling. "You go on the boat a lot?" She asked.

"Not in a long time. My brother and I used to a lot. And now I don't always have time to." She nodded. "Did you? Go on boat rides a lot?" I asked she shook her head no.

"But before the war, my mom and I once a year would boat to the island Crete and stay for a little while." She smiled at the memory.

We stayed silent just listening to the water and I stopped paddling. I was just letting us float.

"Katalina?" I said so she would look at me. She looked towards me waiting for me to continue. "I have grown to know you only these past few weeks and I love you and your personality. I would love to make you my wife." I as said this her smile faded. That cannot be good.

"I cannot." She said and I felt tears form.

"You cannot?" I asked my voice cracking slightly.

"I cannot. You are royal, I am not even Egyptian," She said quietly with tears in her eyes.

"That does not matter," I said.

"Can you take the boat back?" She asked. I nodded slowly and sadly and took the boat back to the shore. As soon as the boat touched the land again Katalina jumped out and ran. Not towards the palace but just ran. I angrily wiped the tears away and went to the palace.

"But Ahkmenrah, what about Katalina?" One of the guards asked.

"Let her go. She will be fine." I said angrily and went to my room. I took off my crown and threw it towards my bed. Everything that we did? Everything that we said? Nothing even matters. She never loved me. Kah was right. He knew she would leave. And now she's gone. My first love. A part of me hopes she will return. But I know in my broken heart she will not.
