Team Orser, Getting Shit Done (Kind of)

I try to be more optimistic, trust me I do. But at times like these I tell myself "Fuck it. Be yourself, Charlotte, you're pessimistic." And with all the crap I've been through in my life, I'm not surprised I'm pessimistic.

When I walked into the rink the next day, Yuzu and Javi already had their skates on with glum looks on their faces.

"Hey guys! What's with the sad looks?"

But I mean, this is my life, so there are many ways something could go wrong.

"Coach has our training menus done, Chica" Javi says with a dull tone

Oh.

"He's looking for you. He's in his office" Yuzu says

I nod and send off a small 'thanks' before heading to Coach's office.

The rink may be huge, but Coach's office is easy to find because it literally says "Coach's Office" on the door.

I knock gently and then enter when I hear a faint 'Come in.'

"You wanted to see me Coach?"

"Yeah I've got your training menu here", he says handing me the booklet

I look through and realize it's a lot tougher than the ones Kathy used to dish out.

"So I've scheduled Kurt to come back tomorrow, so we can work on that free program"Brian adds

"Oh nice!" I simply reply with a smile

Ever since Yuzu helped me on the foot work sequence, it's been my favourite part of my program.

"So I see you get along with the boys pretty well" Brian says, sparking up the conversation again

"Yeah they're great"I reply, not really knowing what he's picking at

"And how are your English lessons with Yuzuru going?"

"He's picking up a bit more vocabulary. We just need to fix up his grammar a bit" I say

Then I notice the small smirk on Brian's face.

"What are you getting at here, Brian?" I ask catching on to what he's doing

"I'm just saying, I notice you guys get along very well. Kind of like there's more going on..."He trails off

Suddenly the flesh on my face warms up.

"Oh shut up you!" I say out of pure embarrassment

Why am I even feeling this way?

He just teasing me and Yuzu and I are only friends..

Right?

I leave his office and move into the girls change room to get my skates on.

But do I like Yuzu??

I mean he is great friend, but do I see him as more than a friend...?

Ughhh this is a problem for future me to deal with.

I get on the ice and the boys are already getting into their jumps.

Today was gonna be a group training session, where we had to skate some kind of circuit that Brian made up.

The three of us usually work on edge work together, since jumping in threes would be harder to do.

"Hey, keep up chica" Javi says while patting my my back

I shoot him a glare and speed up.

And soon I'm passing him and Yuzu.

As a joke, I give a slight wave to the boys as I move into my next lap.

"You shouldn't motivate her Javi" Yuzu says sarcastically in English

Now the boys are racing after me as I head into the next lap and I can see Coach on the sidelines watching us like it's a movie.

From 15 years of figure skating, I've learned that in this sport it's either hunt or be hunted; be the lion or the prey.

After Sochi, I haven't been the prey in a while, but I guess I'm gonna make that change starting today.

Yuzu makes his way over to me as I'm about to end my sequence, breezing by me as I start to lose speed.

"Why so slow today Charlie-san?" He jokes in Japanese

I stick my tongue out at him as I push my hardest into trying to lap him.

Soon the two of us are neck in neck, speeding down the ice together.

"Better watch your back Akagi"

"I didn't know we were on last name bases now, Hanyu"

"Are you getting tried yet? The bench looks like such a good place to sit right now" he taunts

"Well the ice looks like a good place to sit too, because....umm you're gonna fall on it!" I shoot back

I'm not the best at trash talking am I?

"Ok guys finish up your last lap, then we can move on" Coach announced

Here we go.

The two of us speed down the ice and he's slightly ahead of me.

Hell no.

At the last half, I push down into my knees and power across the ice, leaving my body to inch ahead of his.

Coach blows the whistle and raises my arm in victory.

"We have a winner!" He says and I burst out laughing when I see the look on Yuzu's face

"AHA eat dirt Hanyu!" I yell out

"I didn't know you could be so cruel to you're boyfriend Chica" Javi says, panting as he's out of breath

"Excuse me?" I ask

"You two spend a load of time together" Javi pokes

"I'm teaching him English!" I say, defending my position

"That's not what I heard" he prods

"And what did you hear?" I shoot back

"You guys went to some cafe and then the park"He says back

"And who told you this...?" Yuzu tries to pull

"Uhh...internet"

And like that Yuzuru and I look at each other with a shocked and questioning look.

Javi notices and beings to pull out his phone.

"See look here" he says and hands over his phone

Figure skating Romance? Is there a blossoming love between Brian Orser's students?

Sochi Olympic champions, Charlotte Akagi, of Canada and Yuzuru Hanyu, of Japan, were spotted at King"s Cream cafe earlier this week. The pair was caught laughing and goofing around while Akagi shows her flirty side, shoving cake in Hanyu's mouth.

It was to shut him up alright?
