Don't Walk Out on Love

I can't stop the tears from rushing down my face

The streets are all blurry considering my vision is foggy from the tears

Why can't life be fair?

Why couldn't I be born with a normal family?

Why did I always manage to screw things up?

As I continue to walk around the dark foreign streets of Sendai, I begin to regret my decisions of running away from the Hanyu's house

Why don't I ever learn?

I keep walking until I pass by an alley

You know what they say, never cross an alley late at night

To be honest, I don't know if they actually say that but I do..

Abruptly, an arm in the shadows wraps around my mouth and soon I swept into the dark alley 

"Mmmph!" I managed to make out while my mouth is sealed by my captors hand

The hand let's go of my mouth and before I can scream, the person turns me around and I see who it is

"Keith?" I ask in disbelief

What's he doing here? Sapporo is like, an hour away from Sendai...

"Charlotte, what are you doing out here so late? Don't you know muggers and murders hang out at this time?"

"I know, I'm an idiot. I ran away again" I mumble looking down at the gross paved ground

"Why are you here anyways, didn't NHK finish a while ago?" 

"I'm visiting Yuzu's parents" I explain 

Before Keith has the chance to shoot back another question, I shoot one at him

"So what are YOU doing here? Weren't you in Sapporo?" 

"I was, but there's always gang business that needs to be taken care of" he sighs, shaking his head a little

"So why did you run from your boyfriend's place again?" he asks back on my issues

"My anxiety was acting up. You of all people should know how I am with meeting new people. And plus, I don't think his parents really like me. I mean, I'm already a mess of a person as it is but now I'm a parentless freak thanks to Roman-"

"Wait! He killed your parents?"

"Yeah. They died the day of Halloween. He thought getting rid of them would make me happier. You know, because they always made my life a living hell. He thinks we're meant to be or something and I just want him to leave me alone. I'm so glad we caught him when he killed Debby, the front desk lady" I ramble

"Charlotte, you of all people should know gang members never stay in jail for long. Like me for instance, when you met me I already escaped from prison like three times" he laughs

"Well that's comforting to know. As if 15 years old me wasn't already dating a fugitive" I joke back 

"Charlotte, you need to go back. Yuzuru is probably worried sick about you" he says holding me in a warm embrace

In this moment, I'm reminded of why I feel in love with Keith those many years ago. Despite everything he's gone through, he's still able to stay strong and protect the ones he loves. Unlike me. I always think running away from people is going to solve my problems..

We stood in silence for a few minutes, while Keith kept me wrapped in his arms  just comforting me. That was until I broke the silence by asking him the question that was on my mind

"Keith...you know the last time you saw me? You said you still loved me..did you mean it like platonically or-"

"I meant it Charlotte, I really do. You're always on my mind and I'll protect you no matter what. I understand that you've moved on and I just want you to be happy. I believe that Yuzuru will make you happy and I'm glad you found him" he answers 

The glint in his eyes tells me that he meant what he said 100% and that was all the answer I needed 

"Charlie-chan?! Charlie-chan?!" 

And like magic, Yuzu and Javi round the corner finding Keith and I 

"Charlie, are you alright?" Javi asks panting and completely out of breath 

"I'm ok, Javi. I promise"
