Javi's POV (a week later)

The past few days have been hell for us all 

Especially Yuzu 

After Romano tossed that smoke grenade into the house, Charlie had been kidnapped and Yuzuru's been spending most of his time in the hospital getting his lungs checked due to his asthma. As for Keith, he was wrongfully convicted when the police arrived to our house. Since he's apart of the Yakuza, the cops automatically thought the crime was brought out by him. Practice wasn't the same without her and Coach misses her enthusiasm and humour that usually lit-up the rink 

The week has been pure torture for Yuzu and it was twice as hard for me to see one of my best friends put themselves through this much pain. Every night at around the same time Yuzu would run out of the house and be gone for 2 hours or so, telling me he's looking for Charlotte. Deep down he knows he's not going to find her, but he's still hopeful every night he goes out. It's twice as disheartening when he comes back with sweat pouring down his forehead and a broken look in his eyes. He tells me the same thing every time he walks through the door and it makes my heart shatter

"I couldn't save her Javi"

"Yuzu, dude, just rest alright. I know you're tired and you're worried but the police will find her" I tell him passing over a cup of tea when I go to sit beside him on the couch 

He takes the mug from me without saying a word and takes a small sip, his eyes focused on the floor beneath him 

"Yuzu, say something" I ask watching his face for any sign of feelings

 He holds his mug in his hands before looking at me with those red bloodshot eyes 

"Javi, when have the police done anything right for us? They took Keith without questioning him and now that he's gone, we have no one else who might help us find her. For all we know she could be in another country and I-I don't want to think about what he might do to her" he says closing his eyes shut

I watch as a small tear makes it's way down his cheek and then he's sobbing once again 

"Hey, hey it's alright buddy. We'll figure something out. We always do" I tell him as I place my mug on the coffee table and wrap my arms around him 

I let him cry into my chest for a few seconds, letting him let go of all his anger until he's calmed down enough to speak again 

As the captain of this ship, I won't let Romano get away with this. He already broke my Nana's clock and now he's messing with my kids. Not today Romano. Not on my watch. Captain Javi made this ship sail, and now he's gonna get it back together 

"J-Javi, I-I think I'm gonna go to sleep" Yuzu says wiping his dried tears and sitting up from the couch 

"Alright man. Just get some rest ok, you don't need to get sick before Japan Nationals" I tell him patting him on the back 

And then he was off, walking up the stairs and into the guess bedroom

I pull my phone out of my pocket and see there's 4 new notification on the Yuzulotte Ship group chat

Nathan: Is there any news about Charlotte yet? Please tell me she's safe

Alex: If the police are as bad as you're telling me they are, WE gotta do something 

Gracie: I hope she's ok. Charlie's always been a strong girl 

Maia (the better Shibutani): How's Yuzu doing?

I sigh before typing out my reply. The whole group chat has been in full on panic and anticipation waiting for more news about Charlotte's whereabouts and honestly I can't shine any good news 

Captain Javi: Nothing yet. Yuzu's still having a rough time coping  with the news, but we'll figure something out. I promise to Charlotte she's coming home safe 

And that's a promise I vow to keep
