Escaped: Chapter 11

After driving for a few more hours, I fell asleep against the window.

I dreamt about my parents, about Ruby and my friends.

We were at a lake, swimming.

My dad was in the water, calling out to me.

"Come on, Lottie!" He was yelling. "Come into the water."

But I didn't want to.

I stood on the wet dock, shaking my head.

I turned to walk back to the grass when I slipped.

I fell backwards into the cold, dark water. I couldn't move. I couldn't swim, I couldn't even thrash my arms.

I was just laying there, in the water, as the air escaped my lungs.

My arms ached to move, to bring me to the surface but no matter how hard I tried, they wouldn't move.

I was drowning and there wasn't anything I could do about it.

I gasped and jerked my head up.

My face peeled off of the car window.

I looked around quickly to remind myself that I was not in the water and I was not drowning. I was in a car, driving down the road, safe.

Well, as safe as I could get while being kidnapped by One Direction.

Harry looked over at me.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

I pulled my knees up to my chest and nodded.

"Bad dream?"

"Yeah."

"We're here," Perrie called from the front seat.

I looked around to see nothing. Absolutely nothing except forest and a small wooden cabin right next to a lake that looked exactly like the one from my dream.

I shuddered and climbed out of the car that was now stationary.

Perrie popped open the trunk and started to pull bags out of it. She set them on the ground at her feet. I looked over and saw the black Range Rover parked in the grass next to the cabin. The guys and Eleanor began piling out.

I kind of stood there awkwardly, which I didn't like, so I offered Perrie a hand with the bags.

"Yeah, that'd be great," she smiled.

"Yeah, all hands on deck!" Liam called as he walked over.

Louis groaned as he carried two bags into the cabin.

"You're so lazy," Eleanor chuckled.

"I know," he moaned.

I grabbed a large black duffle bag that Liam immediately took from me.

"I'll get that one," he said. "You grab something else."

I looked confused at the bag until I saw, with the corner of it unzipped, that it was loaded up with shotguns and ammunition.

I quickly nodded, not looking at him, and reached for another bag.

I followed him into the cabin, refusing to look at him until I realized that I had no idea where I was going.

I stood, frozen in the entry way as Liam continued into the house.

"Um, Liam?" I called timidly.

"Yeah?" He turned back to me.

I kinda just rocked back and forth on my heels.

He sighed and jerk his head, motioning for me to follow.

I followed him into a bedroom.

"Leave it there," he said, pointing at the bed. "You'll be staying in here with Perrie and Eleanor, yeah?"

I nodded.

He shoved his hand into his pockets.

"Eleanor will come get you when supper's ready."

"Okay."

He walked out and closed the door behind him.

I walked over and sat on the bed. I stared out the window, that conveniently, couldn't open. I mean, it had no latch.

I sighed. It really was beautiful here. The trees, the water, the birds chirping. Even though I didn't care to admit it.

It was my beautiful, beautiful prison.
