Jake's Phasing

Jake and I walked to the ravine, where I first saw the pack. But when we came to the opening, I noticed on my left, an amazing oak tree. I didn't see it before, because I mean, when seeing a pack of wolves is just way more boring than a tree.

"My dad says my mom loved to sit under that tree when she went on walks.." Jake spoke up.

I slowly walked up to the tree, moss was covered on most of the tree, but the bare bark was still visible. I turned around, "Do you know if sh-" Jake was gone, "J-Jake..?"

Jake was nowhere to be found, I walked from under the tree into the clearing. I turned around, looking behind me and all around. I heard crunching trees and branches, I assumed it was natural sounds, like a rabbit hopping or a deer pulling leaves from the bushes.

It was silent all of a sudden, the sound of the ravine became calming. I slowly walked to the edge of the ravine, my reflection was wavy and distorted. Some fish tried to swim against the current, I couldn't help but smile at them.

Movement came into my peripheral, I turned my head slightly, a baby deer edged it's way to the water. My dad said if you cupped water in your hand, just maybe, the deer will come to you and accept you. But he's never done it himself, but why not me?

I leaned into the water and cupped my hands, gently lifting them up and caressing the water. I moved my hands to the deer, it looked at me with it's big, brown eyes. It moved it's way to me, my dad was right. As it came closer, I could tell it was a baby girl. She was right in front of me, she stuck her tongue out and began to drink from my hands. Water splashed a little, getting on my forearms and on the ground.

No more water was left but she still tried to lick my hands. I brought a hand up and rubbed her cheek, she almost smiled at me.

"There there, girl.." I chuckled. But as I went to pet her back, her head snapped up.

She looked alarmed and scared, she dashed away in an instant, leaving me puzzled. Almost a thump came from a few feet away from me, made me turn around.

"Oh my God.." I lightly gasped.

He was a beautiful, russet brown wolf. Height wise, maybe two feet taller than me. He looked shy, but as he walked closer to me, he became stern and open. I edged slowly away from him, I wanted to get a better look at him. Admire him, he was so muscular and gently. It amazed me. But I knew it was him, his soft, brown eyes gave it away.

"Jake.." I softly said, "You're beautiful.." I raised my hand up to his cheek, Jake breathed out, making his hot breath startle me. I slipped my hand into his soft, feather like fur. A soft smile appeared on Jake's face, it was weird, I didn't know shapeshifter's while phased had such human motions.

I'm sorry I left you... Jake spoke up.

It doesn't matter... I replied.

I just wanted to be safe than sorry... Jake noted. Jake was serious about he phases, it made me worry but I understood why and I didn't want to question Jake.

After a while of me petting Jake, Jake walked around me, circling me.

What..? I asked, chuckling.

Just admiring your beauty, that's all.. Jake simply said. Jake's long, brisk tail rubbed against the back of my legs, sending chills up my spine.

A burst from the bushes scared me, Jake quickly came to my side. I looked the way Jake was facing, other wolves came along. As Jake relaxed, I knew it was the pack.

Oh Liana, I'm just admiring your beauty.. Paul teased, mocking Jake. I couldn't help but chuckle, but only a little while blushing.

Paul was in the front, next to Sam. Jared and Embry seemed to be having their own conversation, I heard only a little. Something about hunting later tonight. Seth walked toward me, smiling with his tail wagging. I moved my hand up to pet him, I heard Jake growl. I realized at the hospital when I hugged Seth, Jake growled. This was why.
