Thalia was laughing and joking with their friends as they made their way back to the Gryffindor Common Room after a detention (apparently turning all of the candles in the Great Hall into armadillos was against the rules?). Sirius' hilariously accurate impression of Professor Slughorn was abruptly silenced as the Marauders turned a corner and their eyes landed on a small blonde in Hufflepuff robes, wand pointed furiously at a pair of Seventh Years.
"You're horrid!" she told them and Thalia felt her brow furrow as she watched the petite girl shake with anger, "You are disgusting people for saying those things, werewolves can't help who they are!" at her shout the Marauders froze. Thalia's breath caught in her throat as she looked towards Remus who had paled drastically,
"Werewolves are murdering half-breed beasts who deserve to be killed." the Ravenclaw one spat and Remus flinched,
"You bastard!" the blonde drew her wand on the boy but James intervened. He ran forward, setting himself between the Hufflepuff and the annoyed Seventh Years who were ready to hex her. James crossed his arms and glared at the older students,
"Wands down." he seethed but the students just smirked, not lowering their wands,
"Or what?" the one in blue robes asked,
"Or we'll make you." Sirius said and he walked over to stand next to James - Eloise, Thalia, Remus and Peter not far behind.
"Oh, it's the infamous Marauders." the student sneered, this one a Slytherin, "Now I'm scared." he mocked and James raised an eyebrow, turning to address the Ravenclaw
"You had some pretty colourful things to say about werewolves, mate." he said, twirling his wand between his fingers menacingly. Thalia raised her eyebrows as she watched how sinister the normally cheerful boy could appear. She could say the same about any of the Marauders actually. Remus' normally kind, chocolatey eyes were narrowed dangerously as his hands were fists at his sides; Sirius was glaring at the students with a clenched jaw as one of his arms discreetly pushed Eloise behind him; Peter looked slightly fearful though he was shooting the pair a death stare; and Eloise looked just about ready to pummel the both of them as she peered over Sirius' shoulder.
"Only the truth." One of the boys shrugged with a mean smirk in response to James,
"But is it? If it's you who thinks it..." Eloise put a hand to her chin in mock thought, "Considering the fact that you're a dumb fuck, I should think that you're most likely wrong." the boys and Thalia chuckled as the Ravenclaw glared at Eloise who was smirking,
"You think you're funny do you?" he asked, stepping towards her which caused Sirius to step out in front of her, "Just because you've got your little boyfriend to protect you? Coward."
"At least she's found someone who loves her." Thalia took a step forward despite James letting out a growl, "I doubt you'll find anyone that'll look past the fact that you're dick's so small you have to put it in your personality instead." The laughter increased around her but the Ravenclaw's face darkened,
"Who the fuck are you?" The Slytherin stepper in, "You just turn up out of nowhere and suddenly think you're all cool because you're a Marauder?" He mocked with a sneer, "You're all pathetic."
"Funny how we're pathetic yet you're the one about to gang up on a Fifth Year." Remus spat, "Leave her alone and we'll have no problem."
"Whatever." the Slytherin sneered at them once more, "I suppose freaks will always stick together." with that they walked off, leaving the Marauders alone with the Hufflepuff.
Thalia's stiff position relaxed and she watched as Eloise walked over to the girl with a smile,
"Hi, I'm Eloise Potter." she held her hand out for the girl to shake but instead she was pulled into a tight hug,
"Thank you." she told her before pulling away, "I was scared they were going to hurt me." she confessed with a blush, "I'm Robyn, Robyn Morrow." she looked at the boys and Thalia who were about to introduce themselves, "I know who all of you are." she told them with a small smile, "I've been at this school for five years and you're always the topic of at least one conversation." Peter blushed, Sirius and James smirked at each other and Eloise and Remus rolled their eyes whilst Thalia felt slightly out of place as she had only joined the group recently.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Robyn." Remus smiled and Thalia noticed Robyn's eyes widen slightly as she observed the boy. I don't blame you, Robyn she thought to herself, He's hot. "It's especially nice to meet you because of what you said back there. It was really brave to stick up for your beliefs." Robyn smiled at him but after a moment, it slid off her face and was replaced with a horrified look. She walked over to Remus and pulled him into a hug, Thalia stifled a laugh as the blonde stood as high on her tiptoes as she could. The brunette then resisted the urge to pump her fist in the air because she had finally met someone smaller than her...she decided to ignore the fact that Robyn was a year younger,
"Oh you poor thing!" she said and the Marauders frowned at one another, "It must be so painful to be a werewolf at such a young age." she pulled away and Remus' face was one of pure shock, along with the rest of them,
"H-How did you-"
"Oh I forgot to say, I'm a legilimens, I can read your minds." she said with a sheepish smile and the Marauders looked to one another before James broke into a grin,
"Well that saves a number of awkward conversations." he said, throwing an arm around Robyn,
"Yep, now I don't have to ask why you continue to persist Lily Evans, even though she rejects you every time." Robyn said with a cheeky smile and the others laughed while James withdrew his arm. Thalia felt a stab to her chest as the Marauder's laughed around her. Of course James is thinking about Lily. The girl was brought out of her thoughts by James pouting and stomping over to Eloise, putting his forehead on her shoulder,
"Help me, Bellie, she was being mean." he whined and Eloise rolled her eyes, shoving her brother. She met eyes with Thalia and her grin faltered before she turned to Robyn who was beaming. Robyn looked over the group and stopped on Thalia, who was thinking about how beneficial it would be if she was a legilimens. She could see what people thought of her. Whether certain people liked her back...
"Don't be jealous." The blonde girl giggled and Thalia's eyes widened. "I don't tend to find out the things I want from people's thoughts." Robyn continued and Thalia broke into a grin,
"Like what?"
"Like what Sirius has been thinking about for the past 5 minutes." she said mischievously and Sirius' eyes widened,
"Robyn!" he warned and the others turned to the blonde expectantly,
"Tell us!" Peter asked with an excited grin and Robyn smirked, revealing another side to the girl that the Marauders were eager to find out about,
"I have two words: Eloise's. Arse."
"Sirius Orion Black III! That's my sister!"
I know this chapter is basically identical to the one in CTS (chasing the stars) but I couldn't exactly change much ygm?
