Third Person POV

One minute Y/n was fine and then she started running across the boat while crying her eyes out. She didn't notice Jack lying on a bench while smoking a cigarette. When Jack heard footsteps and crying he sat up immediately. Y/n made it to the end of the ship when she decided to get on the other side of the rail. Before she went to the other side she made sure nobody was watching her.

Your POV

My mind was all over the place and I couldn't think so the best thing I could think of was to just end it. I made it to the end of the ship and made sure nobody was watching before I climbed over the rail to the other side. I was looking at the water until I heard someone say...

" Don't do it." mystery guy said

I turned my head and said " Stay back. Don't come any closer."

" Come on. Just give me your hand, I'll pull you back over." He said

" No! Stay where you are." I told him, then said " I mean it. I'll let go." I looked at the water again then back at him. He showed me his cigarette and showed me that he was going to throw it over the side of the ship.

" No, you won't." he responded

" What do you mean I won't? Don't presume to tell me what and will I will do. You don't know me." I told him

" You would've done it already."

" You're distracting me. Go away!" I told him back

" I can't. I'm involved now. You let go and I'm going to have to jump in after you." He said while taking off his coat.

" Don't be absurd. You'll be killed." I said

" I'm a good swimmer." He told me while undoing his shoes.

" The fall alone will kill you."

" It would hurt. Not saying it wouldn't. To tell you the truth, I'm more concerned about that water being too cold." He looked at me with concern in his eyes.

I looked back at the water before saying...

" How cold?"

" Freezing. Maybe a couple degrees over." He said while yanking his boot off.

" Have you ever been to Wisconsin?" He questioned me.

I looked at him confused. " What?"

" Well they have some of the coldest winters around. I grew up there near Triple Falls. I remember as a kid me and my father, we went ice fishing on Lake Minnesota. Ice fishing is where you..."

I interrupted him by saying " I know what ice fishing is!" I huffed after. He looked very surprised.

" Sorry. You just look like an indoor girl. Anyway I fell through some thin ice. And I'm telling ya, water that cold, like right down there it hits you like a thousand knives all over you body. Can't breath. Can't think. At least nothing other than the pain. Which is why I'm not looking forward to jumping in there after ya. Like I said, I don't have a choice."

I kept staring at him until he said " I guess I'm kind of hoping you come back over the railing and get me off the hook here."

" Are you crazy!" Looking back at the water
