(Tae's POV)
I....don't know about this....
Nervously watching the excited girl cutting holes in the sheet Tae tugs it over his head and looks out of the holes at her, the happiness on her face causing his heart to spark amongst the anxiety slowly eating away at him.
If they knew we were there...the kids would be so mean...why would you want to subject yourself to being around those people?
Letting out a gentle sigh Tae watches Y/N pull her own sheet over her head while holding the board in front of her, his eyes reading the little scratches quickly jotted across the smooth white surface.
"We can go down through the woods so we can come out on the street and walk up so they won't see where we're coming from."
Nodding his head quickly so the sheet moves Tae tries his best to follow directly behind Y/N, his knees shaking in his jeans when they take off into the dark forest towards the bright lights of the party in the distance.
Oh gosh...Mama doesn't like when I go into the woods...since I can't hear any of the animals or if there's people....
But...Y/N looked so sad when she first came over to my house...now she actually looks happy...I want her to be able to stay happy...
I have to be brave.
I have to be a man!
Getting lost in his own thoughts the boy bumps into the girl when they finally make it to the main road, his eyes widening when the girl reaches out and gently takes his hand over his sheet.
We don't have a board....I can't talk to her at all...and even if I tried...people would probably recognize me...
What if it isn't safe?
What if it isn't-
The boy's thoughts are completely cut off when the pair finally comes into the view of the Halloween party, his eyes widening when he sees all of the bright lights and the thumping music vibrating underneath of his feet.
Wow....Mama taught me the louder the vibration...the louder the music...
Feeling his anxiety spike through the roof Tae stays close to Y/N as they move through the crowd of people dressed in all different outfits dancing to the loud music, the pair stopping at the multiple tables completely filled with bowls piled high with full sized candy bars.
THATS A LOT OF CANDY.
Do these people really need this much candy?!
This is more food than I've probably eaten my entire life!
Taehyung's jaw drops at the sight in front of him and his eyes meet Y/N's for a minute until she lets go of his hand, one of the bowls disappearing underneath of her costume before she bolts back into the bushes signaling for him to follow.
WHAT-
Did she just steal a bowl of candy?!
Following after her Tae let's out a giggle keeping up behind the girl as they both sprint back through the woods, his lips growing into a deep grin as his legs quickly carry him through the trees.
She just wanted some of the candy!
Y/N is so silly!
Is that the whole reason she wanted to go to the party?!
Once the two finally get far enough away from the party Taehyung tugs the costume away from his body and continues giggling as they run up the mountain back towards their houses, both of them panting when they finally reach the stairs of Tae's home.
That...was crazy....
Sitting down on the step Tae leans back and presses his hand against his chest as he keeps letting out giggles, Y/N's shaky hands picking up the board that was left on the porch and scribbling down her words for the boy to read.
"We did it!"
"You just wanted candy!"
Tae watches the girl burst out into laughter and he feels his heart hollow with a strange longing, his breathing finally slowing down as he simply watches Y/N with a sad smile painted on his face.
I bet...you have the most beautiful laugh...I wish....I could hear it...just once in my life....
"Follow me Tae!"
Snapping out of his thoughts and pushing himself up from the stair he follows Y/N holding her bowl of as she leads him to the driveway where you can see all of the lights, his face scrunching with confusion when she speeds up to her own house and comes back with two folding chairs.
She's...such an odd person...
Does she want to watch the party from afar?
Why wouldn't we have just stayed longer?
With eyes rounded in curiosity Tae stuffs his hands in his pockets and watches Y/N come back again after folding out the chairs beside him but this time she has a blanket, her hand patting the seat of one of the chairs signaling Tae to sit down.
She really wants to watch the party?
Taking a seat in the chair Tae keeps his gaze on the girl the entire time as she sits down beside him and throws the blanket over the two of them, her hands picking up the bowl of candy and sitting it on Tae's lap as she points up at the sky before showing him the board.
"Watch the sky!"
....I...am...so confused...
Settling down in the chair soon Tae's attention is yanked to the sky when a hard rumble spreads underneath his feet, his lips parting in wonder when a bright firework cracks out and spreads across the night sky.
Oh!
I forgot there were fireworks every single year!
Pushing his lips together when a soft breeze blows across his face and the thick smell of firework smoke fills his nose Tae flicks his eyes over to Y/N, his lips parting when he sees the fireworks reflecting from her beautiful gaze filled with wonder and admiration.
Y/N.....
Cheeks now flaring up in a blush instead of watching the fireworks Taehyung keeps his eyes on the girl as he feels a weight suddenly appear in his heart, light tears getting misty in his eyes as he stares at the girl beside him happily watching the display.
Y/N....you have no idea...how beautiful you are to me....
Even though Mama isn't here...this is the best Halloween I have ever had...
Turning his head back to watch the fireworks with his heart slamming in his chest Tae reaches over and softly grabs Y/N's hand, his head not turning to look at her when she whips her head to the side and looks at him.
Please....just...for this moment....don't pull away...
Instead of pulling away, a bright blush appears on Tae's cheeks when he feels Y/N's head lay on his shoulder, her head tucking perfectly into the crook of his neck as the pair continues to watch the display together.
Y/N.....
I'm so sorry....I wish...I could just always want to be your friend....but...I cannot deny it any longer....
I believe...that I'm falling in love with you...
Or...better yet....
I...already...have....
