"You seen how they had the giant lollipops, the candy land game board on the ground, balloons, candy buffet, candy centerpieces... all that. Exactly how they did it. But the only difference I know is my venue isn't as big as the kardashians"
I made an intrigued face with the phone on my lap, on speaker
"For how many people?"
"Around 100"
I nodded before speaking
"Soooo... you want a kardashian type candy land themed birthday party for 100 people with only a $600 budget?"
When I said that out loud, Dre, who sat on the bed beside me on his computer, laughed
"I mean, is $600 not enough?"
"Honestly, no"
"And why not? What possibly could you need to get with more than 600 dollars"
I picked up the phone off of my lap, holding it closer to my mouth so I could make sure she head everything I tell her correctly
"Well first, decorations are not cheap. And you want all of these fancy decorations hanging everywhere with the life sized candy land game board on the ground, balloons, giant lollipops everywhere. One of those lollipops alone could cost between ten to thirty dollars. So let's say they are only ten dollars. I can only get ten church would probably not be enough for decorations and I'll still have to stretch the other five hundred for the rest of the decorations, treats and that's not even paying for my services"
"But you can't make everything by hand?"
I looked at the phone some type of way as Dre shook his head, keeping his focus on his computer
"That would be even more expensive than me buying the stuff"
The girl sighed "well I'm not tryina spend too much money on a child's party. Is there anyway you can just take the $600"
"I'm sorry but ima have to decline because the party you want can't be covered with just $600. Maybe you can find somebody else that's able to work with your budget"
"Mhhh. Always screaming support small businesses but don't wanna help out the ones that's tryina support" she said with attitude before hanging up
I just shrugged and sat my phone to the side
"And I don't give a fuck. She can keep her $600"
Dre continued to laugh while I looked over at his computer screen
"Did you submit it yet?"
"I just did"
I smiled at him
"I'm so proud of you. In school, doing work ON TIME. I feel like a proud parent"
"Nah, proud parents usually buy you shit when you do good in school"
"Ill give you something" I told him while thinking about it "whatchu want? Money or some"
Dre looked over at me
"What?" I asked "I'm tryina find an incentive"
"You know what you can find? Some food. A nigga hungry"
"Unt un.. not and I spent two hours cleaning that kitchen already. Wiping up stains and spills from all over the place" I told Dre while crossing my arms "better order something to eat. The kitchen is closed"
Because we really needed more space as soon as possible due to gio turning one recently, Gigi getting older, Dre doing his tattoos and my business, we just went ahead on a leap of faith and found another home. Thankfully we did find one we fell in love with and now we have been moved in for going on a month. A really nice sized 4 bedroom so gio had his own room which was kinda pointless because he always ends up in the bed with Gigi when I check on them. In the 4th bedroom, which was a pretty big room, Dre did his tattooing and I had my business computer set up on the other side
