Emily's POV

"No"

"Yes"

"No"

"You have no choice"

"Says who?"

"I do"

"Well I don't care"

"Stop fighting me princess, you won't win" Logan stated for the billionth time in twenty minutes. All the ride back to his house we spent fighting over my safety. I was glad he was concerned about me, but there was no way in hell I was going to be room mates with a criminal, boss or not. The car came to a stop and Logan stepped out, dragging me with him. I flailed in his arms, trying to achieve an escape, but failed by lack of strength. He was a lot stronger than me.

Eventually I gave up, walking reluctantly behind him as he entered through the large doors of a building. We crossed the lobby heading straight towards the elevator. Our journey continued in utter silence until I took a step inside his penthouse.

My mouth hung open at the sight ahead. A large living room with comfortable looking beige couches and a small coffee table placed in the centre captured my eyes immediately. A chef's dream kitchen was next to it, a bundle of professional items stuffed inside. A grand staircase lay at the bottom leading to mahogany bedrooms. In one word, it was absolutely luxurious. And expensive.

Taking small steps, I made my way towards the centre of the living room, not knowing where to go.

"Follow me" I heard him say behind me as he started to ascend the stairs.I hurried behind him, stepping on each of the carpeted stairs carefully not to trip and embarrass myself. Living with the devil was embarrassing enough. He guided me through the long hallways towards a small set of double doors until I got excited. But then he opened the door in front of the double doors and I lost all hope.

"This will be your room" He commented, opening the white wooden door and stepping out of the way to allow me access. I slided in, instantly covering my mouth with my hands. A beige filled carpet covered the floor; another zebra printed carpet was placed towards the corner of the room. A large queen sized bed was fitted in the middle stuffed with comfy pillows. In front, a fireplace and a grand television was stuck to the wall. On the side were two comfort chairs and a table next to the doors to the balcony. On the other side, was a white sofa, right next to the door to the bathroom. It was perfect. I walked further inside, just gasping at everything in my way. Looking back, I found Logan standing crossed armed, leaning against the wall. That's when the real question hit me.

"How long will I be staying here?" His face followed the carpet and ignored my eyes.

"However long it takes to get rid of Draco and Ashton"

"You can't be serious!" I yelled, getting frustrated by the minute.

"It's for your own-"

"Cut the crap! You know you could have just protected me some other way. Then why this? Why bring the girl who was your hostage just a couple weeks ago into your home? Why provide me all these luxuries? Why-"

"Because it's my fault damn it!" He shouted, cutting me off. I remained silent as I stared at him in awe. I tried to form words and speak, but absolutely nothing came out of my mouth. I didn't understand what he meant. How was it his fault? Just as I was about to ask him, he turned around and walked out of my room into the double doored room in front of me. I guess that was his room.

I shut the door to my room and dragged my suitcase inside. The past few days - or weeks rather - had been the most restless ones of my life. I walked up to the bed and threw myself on it, embracing the comfort of it. Before I knew it, I fell into deep and blissful sleep.

Logan's POV

I walked back to my room and threw my jacket and tie carelessly on my bed. It was true what I had confessed to Emily. It was my fault she was in danger, and as much as I wanted to treat her differently, I couldn't. It was the only way to keep her safe. From me, from my dangerous world. I buried my head in my hands and decided to take a long shower to losen myself up.

I took off all my clothes and walked into my bathroom where I placed myself under the hot water that trickled down my back as I closed my eyes and positioned my fisted hands on the wall. None of this was supposed to happen. I wasn't supposed to meet her. I wasn't supposed to capture her, or get her involved in any sorts of criminal activity. And now I was dealing with the pain of wanting her but not being able to have her. None of it was supposed to happen. But fate had a messed up sense of humour. It played me.

A while later, I made my way out of the shower and dressed in casual clothes before making my way downstairs.

Emily was seated in the living room, the TV screen illuminating her face in the dark. An empty plate was placed on the table in front of her and a glass of water was in her hands as she silently sipped it, not taking her eyes off the image of Harry Potter fighting off dementors with his wand. She avoided my eyes as I walked over and sat beside her, engaging myself in the movie.

We sat in complete silence as Harry continued saving Sirius Black before she decided to break the silence.

"It's not your fault" I looked at her and noticed her eyes were still on the television as she spoke, her hands hugging her knees.

"Emily, I'm the one who made you go to the ball-"

"I'm the one who accepted. I'm the one who captured Draco's attention."

"That's my point. If I wouldn't have sent you in, you would have been safe." I concluded.

"If I wouldn't have gone, I would still be in your lair, and then you would be in danger, which would mean I was in danger too." She said, her eyes now looking directly into mine.

Just then, the doorbell rang, making her eyes avert quickly. I stood up and walked up to it, opening it to see who was bothering me at such an hour.

Opening that door was probably the biggest mistake I had ever done. Behind that door, was Nancy.

"Logan baby! Where have you been? You told me come over last week, and then just disappeared." I angered as her voice echoed through my house. The thought of Emily hearing that I fucked her last week made me sad and angry with myself.

"Get out!" I yelled at her and pushed her out my house, shutting the door on her face. Her voice echoed outside the door to my penthouse but I ignored it. I prayed that Emily hadn't heard her and slowly walked back into my living room.

But Emily was no longer there.
