Mother drops us off at Aoi's
with a glum expression, a kiss and
a "be good, I'll be back in an hour."

It's loud inside,
the kids have grown and I can hear
the way they screech happily
in the garden outside.

Everything feels foreign.

Not a trace of who we were remains.

The walls are painted,
there are new carpets and sofas
and the garden's greenery
is replaced with grey slabs
and a mess of colorful toys.

Zeira and Miria come running,
grinning at us and hugging my legs,

"Oh we missed you Harmony!"

"I missed you too,"
I whisper into their fluffy hair
making sure Suki doesn't hear me.

I'll always love you

no matter what.
