Chapter 59

* One week later *

Tiff's POV

We were driving up the driveway to the adoption centre and I saw a little girl around the age of five years old, sitting under a tree. She was playing with a skipping rope, living in her own world.

"I want to adopt that baby girl", I said to Demi

"I was looking at her too, she's beautiful", said Demi

"Then let's go make her ours", I said, and a huge smile appeared on her face.

We went into the centre and we were greeted by a lady at the front desk.

"Hello girls, how may I help you today?", the lady said

"We made an appointment under the name of Demi and Tiffany Lovato", Demi said

"Oh yes, how many would you like to adopt?" she said

"Just one", I said

"Would you like to go and meet the children?"

"Actually, we've already got someone in mind", Demi says squeezing my hand

"Who is that?", the lady asks

"That little girl outside playing under the tree", I said

"Oh, that's Alexia I don't think she's a good choice, she will bring a lot of trouble and stress into your life trust me I know", the lady said rolling her eyes

"May we please see her file," I asked firmly getting annoyed at the way she's talking about Alexia. She hands me the file and Demi and I start reading it

'Alexia Scott is six years old and was placed in care at the age of four. Her dad has raped her numerous times and her mom physically abused her, they are both in jail for life. Alexia suffers from social anxiety, horrible nightmares and an eating disorder. She doesn't trust easily, has adult thoughts which causes suicidal thoughts quite often but she never has harmed herself. Alexia needs someone who will understand her and help her, someone who will love her and do anything for her'

Demi's POV

We read the file and I honestly can't believe it all, something like this happening to a beautiful little girl, and for her to be having suicidal thoughts breaks my heart even more. I look at Tiff and tears are rolling down her face as she keeps looking at the file

"Baby, hey what's upsetting you?" I asked knowing it's more than just about Alexia

"It's heartbreaking reading this"

"What else is wrong?" I know she hasn't told me the full story yet

"It brings back memories and I get these flashback and it just.. makes me think why i never just killed myself", she mumbled the last bit but I heard enough to know what she said

"Tiffany don't you every think like that, I couldn't even imagine a world without you, I couldn't imagine me without you. You were strong all that time cause god knew that someone special would come along for you and make you feel like the only girl in the world and that was me and everyday I will prove to you that you are worth it and I love you", I said pulling her in a big hug as she cried into my chest

"Look at me," I tapped her chin so she looked up at me

"You are worth it don't forget it baby"

I leaned in and gave her a quick but meaningful kiss

"So have you two decided?" the lady asks us

"Yes, we would like to adopt Alexia", I say and see a huge smile appear on Tiff's face

"Are you sure?"

"100% percent", I said getting angry at the way she talks about our new little girl. Wow it's weird saying that

"Ok well here are the papers for you to sign and I'll go get Alexia and her stuff ready"

We nod our heads and start reading through the papers and signing then where we needed to

About ten minutes later the lady came in with Alexia behind her who looked so frightened and scared.

"Alexia this is Tiffany and Demi they are going to be adopting you"

She gave us a weak smile and looked down to the floor

"How about you guys go sit underneath the tree for a bit and get to know each other", the lady says and we all agree. Tiff reaches out her hand to Alexia who after a while of thinking about it grabs it and we walk outside to the tree

"You know you don't have to adopt me you can find someone better", she says to us

"I wouldn't anyone other than you, your our new little girl", I say to her

"But you'll end up leaving like everyone else", she says almost in a whisper

"I know it's hard for you to trust but we promise you we never will leave you, your ours now and we won't leave you or let anyone hurt you", Tiff says and a little smile shows up on Alexia's face. I went to put my arm around her and she jumped, she was shaking a lot and her breathing was out of control.

"Please don't hurt me", she sobbed

"Baby just match your breathing with mine, I'm not gonna hurt you I never ever would your my little girl", I say

"You promise?"

"Promise", Tiff and I said at the same time

Alexia's POV

Demi and Tiffany have adopted me and I was so scared. I didn't want then to hurt me or do what my mummy and daddy did to me. But something about them made me feel happy and like they loved me and I could trust them. I know right sounds weird having a six year old talk mature and know a lot but it's the way I've been brought up, a little girl grew up too fast...
