"Lillith, I will set the food here for you. Zayden will be up in about an hour," I heard the lady say through the door.

I set down one of the books I was reading that Zayden sent up last night. It rambled on about werewolves and their lifestyle. Including why they were involved with witches. I couldn't sleep well so I have been up for hours, wishing I woke up back home.

"Okay, thank you!" I replied as her footsteps fainted into the distance.

I crawled out from underneath the blankets and opened the door to get the food. Grabbing it from the floor I placed the food on the desk next to the books. Their covers were old and dark gray, with intricate silver designs lining the edges.

"Aaylah, I want to wake up from this," I mumbled as she stretched out on the bed yawning massively.

I wish I felt as comfortable as she did in this situation. Last night I could only pace in front of the window trying to scheme an escape or try and distract myself with these books, which were all about werewolves and witches. It was too much to process. One thing that stood out to me was that the Darkmoon Queen had tainted all of her followers, or pack, with darkness. Who would be so evil to do such a thing? She should've been put away a long time ago.

I ate my food quickly. It was mandarin orange pieces and a chicken sandwich. An odd choice for breakfast but it wasn't unpleasant. I grabbed some clothes that were black skinny jeans and a plain red t-shirt since I had no clue what the day held ahead of me. Putting my clothes on I made my way to the bathroom to wash my face, brush my hair and pull it back into a ponytail. Letting the brown curls dance around over my back.

"Okay, Aaylah, time for you," I said as a cleaned out her cat litter box and made sure she had plenty of food and water. I went back to the window and peeped out over the castle walls, sighing again.

"Aaylah, how on Earth are we suppose to get out of here?" I asked, looking hopelessly over the never-ending scenery of trees and way in the background, mountain tops. A knock at the door interrupted my pathetic schemes of how to possibly escape.

"Lillith, it's Zayden, you ready?" His voice easily passed through the door.

"Yeah," I mumbled as I petted Aaylah who sat on the bed staring at me with those big blue eyes. I gave her a kiss on the top of her head.

"I'll be back, okay?" I told her as I opened the door to see Zayden standing there holding a deep red rose. He held it out to me and smiled.

"I wanted to apologize about last night. I did not intend to scare you or anything or even give you the wrong idea. I am sorry, and I got you this," he said bashfully.

Even though his skin was a deep olive-gold color, I could see his cheeks turning a slight red. He was blushing! I couldn't help but smile faintly as I took the rose and set it on my desk over the book.

Meeowww.

I heard Aaylah meowing as she trotted to Zayden's feet and put her front paws up on his leg as she looked up at him. He kneeled down and started rubbing her cheeks that made her purr in delight. It was adorable. I never saw Aaylah take a liking to anyone that much but myself.

"She really likes you," I said quietly. It slipped out and I didn't expect him to hear me.

"Yeah, well she is one cute kitty," he said with the most adoring expression on the face as he looked at her.

It made my heart skip a beat and I quickly turned away. I felt more confused and conflicted by the day, and this was only adding onto it.

"You okay?"

"Uhm, yeah. Can we go?" I asked in a hurry, trying to get distracted from all thoughts already.

"Yeah, okay," he cleared his through as he gently put Aaylah's front paws on the ground.

I followed him out as he left and made sure Aaylah stayed inside the room. She seemed pretty disappointed that he had stopped petting her as she sat there looking at us with judgment in her eyes.

"Okay, we will head to the training fields. You will meet the King and Queen eventually but they have been quite busy lately with some unexpected tasks," his voice filled with confidence.

Zayden definitely held the composure of a leader. He had a lot of confidence I could tell by the way he talked, acted and even by his walk. He never held an awkward stride. He never stuttered when explaining difficult news. I envied his composure.

"King and Queen, as in your parents?" I asked, curious.

"Yes, my parents," he smiled faintly.

He never seemed very excited to talk about his parents. I wondered if they had a poor relationship. It wasn't any of my business but I couldn't help but observe the matter.

"So, am I just a princess to the witches?" I asked as I wanted more sure answers.

"Yes, even though your father was of high rank, he still was not royalty of our society, but of his own pack. When the packs combined, the other alpha stepped down. So did the witches after everything that happened with your mother but they will still think of you like royalty in a way," he explained.

"Sounds complicated," I muttered.

It sounded more as if I was thought of a princess but I actually wasn't one. Not that I expected to be one anyways. We made it to the abandoned training field where equipment was already set up. Wooden dummies, wooden swords, guns, and targets.

"We will train to fight with our hands and weapons," he paused looking around the field, "we will work on this every day and almost all day," his voice nonchalant.

I felt sweaty as my nerves twisted inside of my stomach. I had no idea how to fight and I wasn't sure I would ever be good at it. The thought did intrigue me though. I would learn to defend myself. It would be badass in a way but at the same time, I wondered if I was capable of such fighting.

"Shall we begin?" He waited for me to comprehend what was about to happen.

"S-sure," I stuttered, still staring at the training equipment wide-eyed. Here goes nothing.
