Chapter 22

Ethan

I sat down on a rotting log, rubbing my aching feet. We've been walking none stop until now. Chris chased us out of hiding and we managed to run into Eve and Courtney on the way. The pair that was left was Jacob and Ashley. We had meaning to go back and find them but lost our way. "How long have we've been out here for, two weeks?"

"Two days," Courtney replied, she was leaning against a tree her eyes closed.

"What's the difference?"

Noah growled, "Guys shut up, we need to find the others before Chris and his brothers do."

Eve pushed away some bushes and turned to us, "I found a trail."

"About time!" I said annoyed, we'd been wandering in pointless direction with zero clue.

Eve lead us down a small hill. The branches had been wack off with something sharp. I touched one of the plants and it still felt fresh. "Are you sure about this?"

"Do you have any other leads?" she asked and waited for me to answer. When I didn't she continued down the path faster. Just when I thought we had lost our only lead the forest opened up and there sat three people.

Noah came up behind me and Eve nodded at him. He raised his arm and I pulled it down. "What are you doing?!"

"I'm not aiming it at them, chill," he said with tired eyes. He shot electricity at a pile of twigs, which caught on fire. All three of them snapped their heads at us.

"What the heck?!" The small girl yelped.

"Noah?"

Noah bolted towards them, wrapping his arms around the taller girl. Her black hair wiping around as she twirled her. "I missed you so much!"

That's when I realized it was Ashley. She giggled, "It's only been two days."

"Chrissy? Is that you?" Courtney asked and breathed a sigh of relief when she nodded. She wrapped the small girl in a massive hug, crying. I couldn't tell if Chrissy was too since her head was buried in Courtney shoulder.

Ashley noticed the interaction and let go of Noah, "You two know each other?"

Chrissy wiped her eyes and said, "You didn't tell me you had my cousin. I would've come in a heartbeat."

"I didn't know Courtney had a cousin," Jacob said.

Courtney smirked, "There's a lot you don't know about me."

"Mind tell me their names?" she asked her.

"Well, you got Eve, Noah, Ethan and you know Jacob and Ms. Princess-"

"And there it is. Classic Courtney move," Ashley said, rolling her eyes.

Noah grabbed the burning pile of sticks and made a small fire. "We should camp out here for a while. Rest up and get some strength."
