"IVAR'S POV"

I stand on top of the hill, ready to attack.
King Olaf's army standing across mine army.
I sigh and turn to my army.

"are we afraid to die? Because I'm not! The gods are waiting for us in Valhalla to drink ale with us!" I scream.

Enthusiastic screaming is coming from my army.

Then I turn back to face the army of King Olaf.

"for the love of fame and for the love of Odin!" I scream and give the sign to attack.

Everybody starts running towards each other.
Swords and axes are clashing into each other followed by horrifying screams and blood shooting everywhere.
I smile.
"ahh I love fighting" I whisper to myself.

People are running towards me to fight them, but I manage to shake them off and kill them.

Suddenly my eyes fall on this girl.
This girl is fighting. She groans every time she uses her sword.
Her axe is splitting someone's head din half and the person falls to the ground.
She smiles and sighs.
Then she suddenly turns towards me.
I look at her and notice that she's missing her left arm.
She sees that I look at her missing arm. She then looks back at me.
For one reason she doesn't attack me, but just looks at me. Then she turns around and goes to her next victim, showing no mercy.
"How can a woman with only one arm be such an amazing shield maiden?"
I thought to myself.

The battle was over.

King Olaf had to pull back his army, victory was ours.
And yet it didn't feel like it.
I couldn't stop thinking about that girl who was just like me, different from the others.

We went back to the battlefield to collect all the bodies and the wounded.
That's when I saw her again.
She was looking through the bodies, searching for wounded and dead people.

I went over to her.
She looks at me, little confused.
I look at her and smile.
"what do you want?" she ask.
I shrug my shoulders.
"I noticed you" I say.
She looks at me and chuckles.
"you noticed me? What is that supposed to mean?" she ask.
I take a quick peek at her missing arm. She notices.
"oh you notice that" she says, her voice is disappointed.
I quickly shake my head.
"yes I did notice that, but I also noticed that you're a great shield maiden" I say.
She looks at me.
"I'm not perfect either" I say. She looks confused.
"I'm a cripple... I can't walk" I say.

She looks at my legs and examines my body with her eyes.
"you look perfectly fine" she says.
"so do you" I say.
She starts to blush.

"would you like to feast with us tonight?" I ask.
She looks at me and then shakes her head.
"I can't... I fought for king Olaf" she says.
"oh but it would be shame if you wouldn't come" I say and come a little closer to her.
I take a quick look at her lips and then I look into her eyes.

"such great shield Aiden should be seen by everybody" I say and I stroke her cheek.
"I think we can work things out" I say and smile.
She starts to smile and takes my hand.
"follow me" I say.
She starts to follow me.

"my name is Ivar the boneless, what is yours?" I ask.
"Y/N" she says.
"well Y/N" I say and turn around to face her.
I give her a kiss on her hand and look at her.
"I would love to get to know you better" I say and I take her with me to the feast.
