Jo's POV

Luke lost something, so we are upstairs looking for it. It's not an easy task because all of mine and Jess' boxes got delivered.

While my stuff is either put away, or still in the boxes that are neatly stacked in the corner, Jess' is thrown everywhere in the apartment. There is a knock at the door.

"Hey, Luke. You in there?" Lorelai asks.

Luke trips and knocks the lap off the table causing a series of crashes.

"Ow!" he yells.

"Luke, you okay?" she asks.

"Stupid- stupid lamp!" he yells again.

I step forward, reaching my hands out trying to help him. My foot gets caught and I end up falling causing more crashing.

"Hey, Luke, are you being attacked by your possessions again?"

Finally he makes it to the door, opening it, and I make it off the ground.

"Hey."

"Hi," he says.

"Whatcha doing?"

"I'm looking for my supply ledger."

I start cleaning up the broken lamp.

"Is it going well?" she asks.

"It's going fine," Luke says calmly.

"No it's not," I reply.

"You have a sock on your shoulder. Is it helping you look?" Lorelai asks.

"What are you doing up here?" he asks.

"Rory and I are starving. We need you to cook us breakfast," Lorelai says, as she walks in and closes the door.

Once she is in she takes a moment to assess the room.

"Oh, my god," she says.

"Caesar can make you breakfast," Luke tells her.

"What happened to this place?"

"Nothing," Luke replies.

"Jess," I mumble to her.

"This is what I pictured the inside of my head to look like," she says.

"See if you can find a brown leather ledger,'" he tells her.

"I've never seen so much stuff. It looks like a white-trash Hearst Castle in here."

"On second thought, I'll find it myself."

"Where'd all this come from?"

"Jess and Jo. Liz shipped the rest of their stuff last week. Jess Finally unpacked."

"Well, he did a very nice job."

"I know it's crazy now, but I just have to get it all organized, figure out where to put everything, buy another dresser, a portable wardrobe, some storage bins."

"Can of gasoline, box of matches," she jokes.

"Don't tempt him," I add, still trying to find the damn ledger.

"Did I mention Caesar can cook you breakfast?"

"But he doesn't make the good, fluffy pancakes like you do."

"True," I reply.

"Then order eggs!" he tells her.

"No! See, I had a near-death experience today," she tells him.

"Really?"

"Yes. I almost fell off the roof of my house trying to clean the rain gutters, so I have to have pancakes. Please? I'll help you shower when I become a superhero."

"What?" I ask.

She doesn't answer because we all turn to look when the bathroom door opens, and Jess comes out.

"You've been in there for two hours," Luke tells him.

"Yeah, well, my hair just ain't bouncing and behaving today," Jess replies.

"There are other people living here, too, you know."

"Huh. Learn something new every day," he says as he leaves.

"Well, his people skills are really improving," Lorelai says.

"Go downstairs. I'll be there as soon as I can," Luke tells her.

"How long is that?" she asks.

"I don't know."

"An estimate."

"I don't know."

"Ballpark figure."

"I-"

"Off the top of your head."

"Will you-"

"Did I mention I almost fell off my roof today!?"

"I'd lie down if I could find the bed."

Lorelai gasps and bends down to pick something up.

"Oh, is this what you're looking for?" she asks.

"Yes, great. Thank you."

"Not unless you make me the pancakes," she says, holding it up, and out of his reach.

"Give me the book," he says going after her."

"Give me the pancake!" she yells.

"Come on," he says in defeat.

"Thank you," she replies, and runs to the door.

"You sure you weren't almost pushed off the roof of your house today?" he asks.

She laughs and I follow them down. Lorelai keeps the ledger until we get downstairs and she again holds it out of Luke's reach until he agrees to add chocolate chips to her pancakes.

She's about to give it to him when she looks back at me and tossed it to me. I walk up to him and hold it out.

"Can I have some blueberry pancakes, please, Uncle Luke?" I ask nicely with a smile.

He gives me a look snatching it from my hands.

"Go clear those tables," he says.

"Is that a yes?" I ask, walking off and getting to work.

"Yes, and she spends too much time with you," he tells Lorelai.

The three of us just smile at him.
