Angelica blinked and lead me to the kitchen, passing Elizabeth. She faced me urgently. "What's going on between you and Elizabeth?" She asked, concern lacing her tone.

"Oh, nothing. She just gave me a scare." I said vaguely. Half truth was truth enough. She scanned my face. "What is it? Is it about me? About Alexander?" She pressed. I crossed my arms. "Nothing happened Angelica." I said. She sighed in defeat and left. I followed her out the kitchen, stopped beside Elizabeth.

I leaned down to my sister's ear and she paused her meal. "I know you didn't do anything." I whispered before going back to the living area. Before I was out of earshot, I heard her laugh wryly.

I sat down again and took a sharp breath. She didn't tell C/N. She didn't, I know that. Then why do I feel like I need to check? Ugh! I stood and strode for the door. I heard Elizabeth laughed quietly as I left, though not without a "Oh shut it!" To my sister.

I jogged down the steps and accidentally kicked up some dirt. I coughed and waved away the airy dust. I didn't dare stop. I continued down the path to the city, my footsteps kicking up more and more dust.

I reached the town and entered the busy streets, dusting the dirt from my skirts. "Pardon me." I said, squeezing between a chatting couple.

"Today's paper! The wedding of the century!" I halted. I faced the young paper boy. "Can I borrow one? I'll give it back." I promised. He handed me the newspaper and I read the headline.

Captain and right hand Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler, daughter of General Philip Schuyler, are to be married before the week ends.

It was found that, after meeting at a winter ball one late night, Alexander Hamilton proposed to Elizabeth Schuyler after returning briefly from the war. This occurred the same day the British household was burned down.

I scoffed. I'm not mentioned! I burned that house! How dare they!

They will be married fourteenth of December this year. The ceremony is supposedly large. Maid of Honor is Philip Schuyler's eldest and Elizabeth's sister, Angelica Schuyler. Best Man is Colonel John Laurens, close friend of Alexander.

I folded the paper and faced the boy. "Who's your employer?" I asked. He pointed down the road. Albany Post. I nodded and handed him the paper before rushing to the building.

I walked right into the empty building and to the young, pretty secretary. "Hello. I'm here to see who wrote the article of the Hamilton and Schuyler wedding." I said sweetly. She looked up at me under dark lashes. "Name?" She asked. "Y/F/N." She pointed to a seat. I walked and sat down, just as she stood up.

I watched as she walked to a pale door, poking her head in. She said something, speaking to someone. A few moments passed before she walked and sat back down.

"He will see you." She said. I nodded and stood, walking into the room.

The study was darkly colored. Dark walls, shelves, desk. Even the books. The man had carmel hair that fell to his shoulders was tied into a small ponytail with a black ribbon. He had strong cheekbones; his skin was a bit tan and he had broad shoulders. He was very tall. His eyes were a bright auburn, some hazel flecks around his dark pupils.

"Levi Montgomery." I said with a smile. He looked up and winked at me. "The one and only." He said cheekily. He stood and walked over, giving me a hug.

"You wrote the marriage column?" I asked as we sat in opposite sides of his desk. "I did indeed." He said. "Why do you ask?" I gave him a small grin. "Where did you find so much information? Even I didn't know the best man, and I just found out the maid of honor this morning!"

He chuckled and wagged a finger at me. "My sources rather remain anonymous." He said with a few clicks from his tongue. I frowned. "Why can you not tell me?" I asked, crossing my arms. He shrugged, twirling his quill. "Because I have to respect their wishes, Y/N." He said with stern eyes.

I sighed and nodded. I'm not meant to be here. Where am I meant to be? Oh! C/N! Secret! Right! "Right then, I have to be somewhere. I respect your respect, Levi." I stood, him standing with me. He walked me to the door.

"Of course. I'll see you around." He said as he opened the door. "And you." I said before leaving. I dipped my head in farewell to the secretary before rushing out. I turned to my right and picked up my pace.

I wiggled past people and turned left. Residential area. A few houses down was
C/N's. I knocked twice. I heard two crashes and numerous footsteps before the door swung open. "Oh, hello Y/N!" C/N said.

"C/N, have you seen Elizabeth today?" I asked. He nodded, my heart dropping. "Where?" I questioned. "I was passing your mansion and she spotted me."

I blinked. "What did she say? What did she say exactly." I said. He sighed, confused. "Erm, 'Good morning C/N. Good to see you.' And I said it was good to see her. She let me on my way." I sighed in relief. "Thank God above!" I cheered. "Thank you!" I praised. I kissed him firmly, briefly, before going back the way I came.
