"Hi, I- You're back?!"

Levi stood in astonishment. "Levi!" I said, hugging him. He laughed and squeezed me. "Ah, ouch! Careful!" I grunted. He let go and rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorry."

I huffed a laugh. "It's alright. Come in! Your father's here!" I said, stepping aside. "My father?"

He stepped inside and faced everyone. "Levi!" Rensselaer shouted, running up. "Hey Rensselaer!" He said, crouching to meet him. The younger boy hugged him and he laughed.

The image of the store clerk in Boston appeared before me and I chuckled. William Francis!

"Levi, a word?" I asked. He nodded and let go of Rensselaer, ruffling his hair before following me. I faced him once we were out of ear shot. "Do you know a William Francis?" I asked innocently. His eyes widened and he cleared his throat. "Erm, maybe." He said quietly.

I smirked. "Well he certainly knows you." I said slyly. He looked to the ground. "How- I mean," He took a quick breath. "How is he?" He asked, not meeting my stare.

Aw! Adorable! I gave him a small smile. "He's good. Business is thriving." I said. He lightened up and nodded. "Thank you, for telling me." He said shyly. I nudged him in the shoulder. "Of course! Now let's get back to the crowd."

He chuckled and followed me back. Everyone was chatting and I sat down beside Laurens and Monsieur Lafayette. Everyone quieted a bit as the Montgomery men stared at each other. Now in the same room, the resemblance was uncanny. They had the same bright auburn eyes and lean build.

"You took care of her?" Levi asked, gesturing to me. I fought a retort. He could've asked me! And I did just fine! I took care of him! Nevertheless, Captain nodded once. "As promised."

I rolled my eyes and Levi grinned. "Good to see you, father." He said, giving his father a quick hug and pat on the back. "You too kid." He said as they let go.

They both sat down and everyone looked to me. "What?" I asked. "Lui as-tu dit? A propos de Boston?" (Have you told him? About Boston?) Monsieur Lafayette whispered. I shook my head. "Levi, don't be upset." I started.

His eyes immediately darted to his father. "No, Levi, it's not his fault. He already dropped me off at Boston when it happened." I said quickly. Slowly, he looked to me. "When what happened?" He asked protectively.

I cringed and reached for my sleeve, hissing as I pulled it up to my elbow. His eyes widened as fear, shock, and fury crossed them all at once. "Who." He said.

"Redcoats. C/N." His eyes met mine. "He did this?! I will ruin him!" He gritted out. "I'll help." Alexander said under his breath. I glared at him. "Not helping." I snapped quietly before facing Levi again.

"Do not do anything. Say he is dead, for his father's sake." I pleaded. He gawked at me. "You want me to give him the mercy?!" He asked, like I was asking for him to give his arm!

I shook my head. "No, Levi. I want you to do me the mercy." I said. Everyone's stares darted between Levi and I as we awaited his answer.

He shook his head. "Fine." He mumbled. I sighed in relief. "Thank you." I said quietly. He gave me a curt nod before I stood. "We need to decorate! This place is so bland for Christmas Eve!" I said, trying to lighten the mood.

They all chuckled and stood. "Let's decorate!"

Ugh short chap but didn't want to leave on cliffhanger :(
