Sanaa ☯️

dream state

"You'll definitely be proud of me now," I said as I sat in the middle of the flower field, facing Abel.

"Really? What did you do?" he asked, cupping his cheek with his hands.

"I mustered the courage to tell him," I replied, referring to my passion.

"That's good to hear. How was his reaction?"

"A bit sceptical at first but he eventually came around. I did promise him a safer Plan B if I don't succeed."

"There's no need to. I believe you'll succeed."

"Thanks," I smiled. "I needed that boost."

"Anytime. I'll start training with the others on Monday."

"Nervous?"

"Not really. I've been preparing for this moment since I was two years old."

"Wow..." I trailed off. "Can I borrow your confidence?" I half joked.

"Sure, you need it more than me."

"Excuse me?"

"You know what I mean," he rolled his eyes. "You know art is your passion but you're still filled with self doubt. If you don't believe in yourself, who will?"

I remained silent. As much as I hated to admit it to myself, he was right. We've never met in real life but he had already succeeded in shoving the huge pill in my mouth. I appreciated his transparency.

" Thank you."

"You're welcome?" he replied with uncertainty. "What are your plans for the summer?"

"I don't think I'll do much apart from being at home and doing the usual. Aside from training and playing several games, what will you do?"

"Hopefully travel to Spain. There's a lot to celebrate."

"True. I hope you'll have fun."

"Mhm" he mumbled and placed his head on my lap. "You're warm and squishy."

"What?" I laughed as I shook my head. "You're really something else, Spot."

"Spot? What is that supposed to mean?" he asked, looking at me.

"Spot because of the moles under your eyes," I replied, tapping them with my finger tip. "It gives you a unique look."

"Unique, huh? You know how to make someone feel good about themselves."

"It's not about boosting someone's confidence, it's just a fact. Have you seen many people with similar or the exact same marks like you?"

He shook his head.

"Besides, it enhances your beauty."

"I'm beautiful?" he asked with a laugh.

"Of course. I can only imagine the stares and compliments you receive daily."

He slightly smiled before saying, "I've heard many things about me which ranged from handsome, cute, hot, and fine but never beautiful. As cringe as it may seem, beautiful makes me feel special."

"You are to me."

Wait, where did that come from? Sanaa, what are you doing?!

The cocky remarks I expected from him never came. Instead, we remained in an intense silence. I hoped that I didn't come off as too forward.
