'It's weird. Really weird.' - is the only thing you think about.

You've been Kuroko Tetsuya's girlfriend for a year and a half and things between you have always gone smoothly. You're both sweet and polite but with a strong and determined side and a mysterious aura that attracted you to each other: a series of similarities that made the relationship between you two feel extremely natural from the beginning. Lately, though, Kuroko has started to distance himself a lot from you: it's been hard to talk to him in person, even more on the phone, and the few times you spent time together (because you insisted to do so) it was obvious that something was off. You tried to investigate discreetly to avoid putting him in an uncomfortable position, but it was in vain. Kagami and your friends at Seirin didn't know anything either, as Kuroko hasn't talked about it to a single soul; so, the only thing left to do to solve this situation is to confront him directly. You talk to him after the basketball practice, when the rest of the team is still in the lockers.

"Hey Tetsu, are you alright?"

"Mh?"

"You've been particularly quiet and detached this week... is something wrong?"

Kuroko avoids your eyes and lowers his head, confirming your suspicions.

"Let's go home for now, we can talk about it later."

Seeing that his lips stay sealed you take this decision, hoping that a walk and a bit of time for himself can help him open up. When you reach your house Kuroko is about to walk past it and go away, but you stop him by holding his wrist.

"Come on, Tetsu, don't be so stubborn. When something bothered you in the past it was useful for you to talk to me about it, right?"

No answer.

"Am I involved in this?"

Still no answer, but his head flies back up at the sound of your question. Anxiety fills your body and your mind starts thinking about everything you've done during the week, while trying not to show it to your boyfriend.

"Well, in that case it's even more important to talk about it, don't you agree?"

A resigned breath, then finally a word: "Ok."

With a smile, that's a actually façade to hide your fear, you open the door and get in, then leave the shoes on the side and sit on the sofa, followed by Kuroko.

"(Name-chan)."

"Tell me."

"I think we should end it here."

A blade cuts your heart in half.

"W-What? Tetsu, you... you don't love me anymore?" - you whisper.

"It's not about my feelings, (Name-chan), it's about yours. Our friends at Seirin and those back at Teiko all have far more qualities than me. Aomine-kun has a handsome tanned body, Murasakibara-kun and Kagami-kun are incredibly strong, Midorima-kun is elegant and mature, Kise-kun is famous and has access to lots of opportunities, Akashi-kun is basically perfect... while I have none of these things to offer you.

"Tetsu..."

"A special girl like you deserves far more than a pale, invisible boy that only shines of the light reflected by others."

Tears stream down your face as you rush to hug Kuroko with all your strength.

"You're an idiot, Tetsu. A real idiot. How could you think such things?!"

You could have imagined a lot of reasons for your boyfriend's insecurity, but this definitely isn't one.

"I couldn't care less about that, Tetsu. My boyfriend doesn't have to be some macho-man full of money and success. My boyfriend has to really love me, to be sweet, kind, understanding. That's what really matters, and you're the only one that can give me these things, Kuroko Tetsuya. You and you only."

You were already feeling some droplets on your shoulder, but the number has now exponentially increased.

"Are you sure, (Name-chan)?"

"If I'm sure? I have no doubt." - you state sweetly, caressing his nape - "But Tetsu, why did you get this sudden wave of insecurity?"

"Actually, it was nothing major. Last week, when I came home after our date, my mom asked me how it was and I told her the wonderful things we had done. She told me how happy she is that you're next to me, like she usually does, but that day was different for me. It didn't make me feel grateful and glad, on the contrary it filled me with worries: I thought that yes, you were next to me, but I wasn't sure that it would always be the same. You could have left me at any time, realizing that I'm not the right person for you. In that moment I thought about our friends and couldn't help but believe that you would have been happier with them."

"Oh, Tetsu, I'm so sorry that you suffered so much. Don't be afraid, though, you're my number one; and I will remind it to you so often from now on, that you could never think that you're not enough!"

A little laugh finds its way through the tears, joy ones this time.

"Thank you so much, (Name-chan), for choosing me. I'll always choose you, too. That's a promise."

"Thank you, Tetsu. After all, fra miliardi di persone, ho visto solo te."

(A/N: it's a part of the lyrics of the italian song I chose as the title, "Ad occhi chiusi" by Marco Mengoni. The title means "With closed eyes" and the sentence means "Among billions of people, I only saw you.")
