Chapter 7 - The Mind Flayer

"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas asks as he, Dustin, Steve, Max, Gemma, and Rudy walk through the woods.

"Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt." Dustin says.

"He was tiny two days ago." Max points out.

"Well, he's molted three times already." Dustin says.

"Malted?" Steve asks.

"Molted. Shed his skin to make room for growth like hornworms." Dustin says.

"When's he gonna molt again?" Max asks.

"It's gotta be soon. When he does, he'll be fully grown or close to it. And so will his friends." Dustin says.

"Yeah, and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats." Steve says.

"Yeah, he's gonna start eating humans or something bigger." Rudy says.

"Is there anything bigger than a human?" Gemma asks, looking at him.

Before Rudy could respond, Lucas abruptly pushes past Steve and Dustin and gets in front of the younger boy.

"Wait, cat? Dart ate a cat?" Lucas asks.

"No. What? No." Dustin lies.

"What are you talking about? He ate Mews." Steve says.

"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max asks.

"She was Dustin's cat. Wait...Dustin!" Rudy yells in realization.

"What's wrong?" Gemma asks, following him over to Dustin.

"The dots connected! The damn dots connected!" Rudy yells, tapping his temples before turning to Dustin.

"What?" Gemma asks, confused.

"You found Dart at the school and you kept him! You didn't find him back at your house!" Rudy yells.

"I did find him at my house!" Dustin lies.

"Don't lie to me!" Rudy yells.

"I'm not!" Dustin lies.

"Dustin!" Rudy yells and Dustin sighs.

"He missed me. He wanted to come home." Dustin says.

"Bullshit." Lucas says.

"You lied to us." Rudy says, gesturing to him and Lucas.

"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, ok?" Dustin asks.

"Oh, so now you admit it." Lucas says.
