Chapter 25 - The Massacre at Hawkins Lab

In the Wheeler's living room, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Gemma are sitting on the couch, getting questioned by Chief Powell and Officer Callahan.

"And what exactly were you all doing at the lake?" Chief Powell asks.

"Uh..." Dustin starts to say.

"It's comp..." Lucas starts to say.

"We were...we were just going for a walk." Max says.

"Yeah, a walk." Gemma says.

"A walk. At nine p.m?" Officer Callahan asks, incredulously.

"I didn't know going for walks had a time limit." Gemma says.

"To the lake. We were gonna take a little swim. A little night swim." Dustin says.

"Dusty. Someone was just murdered there." Claudia says.

"Yeah, we...we didn't realize that until we got there." Dustin says.

"That's why we didn't swim." Lucas says.

"And Nancy, was she with you at this night swim?" Karen asks.

"No." Max says at the time Dustin says "Yes."

"We're not sure." Lucas says.

"Who's Nancy?" Gemma asks, playing dumb.

"She was there. And then she left. It's all a little confusing." Dustin says.

"And that's when you guys came." Lucas says.

"Right. And then, they dared Gem and I to say what we said. About the killer." Max says and Gemma nods.

"Oh, yeah." Lucas says and he and Dustin laugh.

"You're lucky you didn't get shot." Ted says.

The four young teens furrow their eyebrows at him.

"Have you had any contact with Eddie?" Chief Powell asks.

"That psycho...freak killer? God, no. Nope absolutely not." Dustin says.

"No. We haven't heard from him." Max says.

"Why would we want to associate with a killer?" Gemma asks.

"We barely know the guy." Lucas says.

"I don't even know him at all." Gemma says.

"Who?" Dustin asks.

"Oh, that's a bunch of bull." Erica says, stepping forward.

"Erica!" Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair simultaneously says.
