Chapter 12 - The Case of the Missing Lifeguard
At the cabin, Max is dancing around El's room, singing along to Angel by Madonna, Gemma cringes as she watches her, and El is sitting next to her, going through Max's magazines.
El flips the page and when she sees a picture of Ralph Macchio, she smiles.
"Oh, you found Ralph Macchio." Max says as she sits in front of her and Gemma.
Gemma looks over El's shoulder and smiles.
"Macchio?" El asks.
"Yeah, he's the Karate Kid. Hai-yah!" Max says, doing the karate chop motion, making herself, El, and Gemma laugh.
"He's so hot, right? I bet he's an amazing kisser too." Max says.
El gives her a weird look.
"Yeah...too bad I'll never experience it." Gemma says, sighing.
El gives her a weird look as well.
"Hey, uh, is Mike a good kisser?" Max asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Rudy is!" Gemma says, smiling.
"I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to El." Max says.
"I know. I was just saying." Gemma says, still smiling.
Max rolls her eyes before looking back at El.
"Is he?" Max asks.
"I don't know. He's my first boyfriend." El says.
"Ex boyfriend." Max corrects.
El looks down, sadly and Gemma sighs before pulling her into a hug.
"Hey, don't worry about it, ok?" Max says after El and Gemma pull apart.
"He'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness. I guarantee you, him and Lucas are like, totally wallowing in self pity and misery right now. They're like 'Oh, I hope they take us back.'" Max says.
El leans against Gemma as she laughs with Max.
"God, what I wouldn't give to see their stupid faces." Max says.
El looks off to the side, thinking about something, making the stepsisters raise an eyebrow.
"What is it?" Max asks.
"What are you thinking, El?" Gemma asks.
El looks back and forth between them, smirking, mischievously.
The radio is on the static channel and Max and Gemma are sitting next to other on the foot of the bed, watching El put on her blindfold.
