Yvonne walked exceptionally fast. EJ learnt this the hard way as he skipped behind, attempting to reach her. It was odd, considering he was usually the fastest. His long limbs usually accounted for a lot. However, as he chased after her, Jackie lagging behind, the Doctor blurted out questions.

He seemed to stare at Yvonne like she was some sort of puzzle. The Doctor didn't like being caught unawares. EJ had known this almost as long as he had known the Doctor.

"But all the times I've been on Earth," He seemed exasperated as he turned to her. "I've never heard of you."

"We'll, of course not! You're the enemy!" Yvonne scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You're actually named in the Torchwood Foundation Charter of 1879, as an enemy of the Crown."

"1879?" The Doctor raised an eyebrow. "That was called Torchwood, that house in Scotland."

Yvonne nodded. "That's right."

"I said it!" EJ jumped up and down, cutting her off, before stopping himself. "Well, I didn't say it, I thought it!"

He let her continue. "Where you met Queen Victoria and the werewolf."

"I think he makes half of it up." Jackie said, reluctant to believe it. She wasn't doing well with keeping her cover as Rose; her daughter never would have said anything like this.

Yvonne paid her no mind, in the same way that EJ was paying no mind to the bland whiteness of the walls. "Her Majesty created the Torchwood Institute for the express intention of keeping Britain great, and fighting the alien hoard."

"But if I'm the enemy..." The Doctor trailed, almost excited as he spoke. "Does that mean I'm a prisoner?"

"Oh, yes." Yvonne looked rather proud of herself. "But we'll make you perfectly comfortable, and there is so much you can teach us. Starting with this."

She stopped at a door, and faced it. It wasn't particularly interesting in any way, other than the fact that there was a card scanner on the side. Yvonne swiped hers through it, and lead them into yet another white room. It was getting boring, and EJ couldn't concentrate.

However, as soon as he looked up, he realised just how different this room was. There was a great gold sphere suspended at the opposite wall. It was pretty, and shiny, and EJ wanted to touch it. Knowing this, the Doctor stuck his arm out in front of the Thompson boy to stop him.

There were also three men in the room, working, but one scarcely moved from the corner. It was like he didn't want to be seen. EJ could understand that more than the way Yvonne presented herself in such an exuberant manner. Although, that was her job, and he couldn't fault her for that.

"Now," Yvonne said, snatching their attention from the sphere and all its wonder. "What do you make of that?"

Still, they did not move their eyes from it, and EJ seemed entranced. "Doctor..." He began, but was crudely cut off.

"You must be the Doctor." The senior member of staff, a man in a purple shirt and a lab coat, approached him with a hand outstretched to shake. "Rajesh Singh, it's an honour, sir..."

Naturally, the Doctor missed the cue, because his mind was so clearly occupied by something greater. "Yeah..."

"Taylor Watkins, sir, I've heard all about you."

That was when EJ broke his contact with the sphere. This was unprecedented. He wasn't expecting to find his friend so close to him, especially not in a place full of danger. As far as EJ was aware, Taylor had no skills. None at all. It was one of the main reasons he was always confused as to why Soren left him for Taylor.
